Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

A senior director

A senior director was shown the door late today, Monday.

It's going to be a long and painful week.

No sign of boxes, but I imagine crews will be working overnight to prepare the dirty work.

God I feel sick!

Only good news is that SL just sent out a video telling us how great things are...

Clearly the doomsday truck will arrive to cart away equipment sooner than people think. Seagate can no longer support non-revenue producing enterprises as it is fighting for its own survival.

Mission Critical is like a horse driven buggy. You can make the best hand-crafted buggy, but the folks are taking a liking to the Model T that just rolled into town.

Relieved to be laid off now and get paid to sometimes in January plus a hefty severance package on next year's tax.

No sure what director you were talking about but know the RIF impacted a number of people including several of my engineering mentors that were with this company for over 30 years. I was shocked and saddened by the various 12/6 RIF announcements.

Got my package today. Sad and relieved. Don't need to check this website any more. ;)

The frustrating thing is that the big RIF for RHO in NRM happened back in July. The layoffs happening now for other groups - those directors knew they had to RIF whomever but decided to wait until now to do it. Great timing right at Christmas...

Good luck to all, and not feeling bad about Sr. director being let go.
