sip based solutions and a glorified sip proxy server

I remember KK's webcast about sip based solutions and how a glorified sip proxy server would be the savior of the world. He even stated confidently 'SIP is the replacement of IP' - clearly showing how much he knew about technology.

In the mid market he killed BCM which was miles ahead and selling better than IP office. Bought Scopia for conferencing when we had AAC already and gave some bs about layer 2 and layer 3 that only he and his think they understood. Now pinning hopes on a complex buggy contact centre with a humongous footprint (something like 20 servers) which is slightly less functional than the existing products.

Didnt sell data, didnt go cloud inspite of having a software based media server years before the competition, when they did host-the reference architecture was with a product that could not be virtualized until now... - well what can you say- i'm sure he'll be CEO of something else tomorrow.... dairy farm maybe as he has no skills in tech-just a generic CEO and the word EBITDA can be used anywhere.

The purchase of Nortel Enterprise in 2009 was a steal that paid for itself after 28 months of ongoing Avaya Blue sales. Its nothing to do with the unsustainable $6B debt-load. It is also the source for about 30% of Avaya total services revenue and growing. There is almost no Nortel senior management still existing inside Avaya.

if i understand correctly the main debt (4 billions ) comes from our own acquisition by tpg/silverlake

that is what it is ,; the target of acquisition is paying for its own acquisition

this is called; i believe leveraged buy-out

add one for nortel ..

doing the math, avaya has 6billion in debt, they paid nearly 1 billion for nortel- assume they didnt buy nortel enterprise, I doubt a debt of 5 billlion would make a real difference to the final outcome. even assuming the distractions of the nortel products weren't around and avaya actually was able to develop a competitive product to rival genesys etc. I'm beginning to think that no takeover/business decision could have solved the huge debt problem... the company had just borrowed too much. Just like a bad mortgage- a really bad one.

Acquiring Nortel entreprise ??

that certainly was proven to be a serious mistake; specially in regards cost ...

Keeping far too many managers aka ''leadership'' from this company with such 'failing proven record' was peculiar; i admit

would you really want commanders of the bridge for the TITANIC to rudder another ship ?

that s what happened ...

in addition,

the avaya own leaders were also as bad as the nortel ones (look a bit at kk)

have a look to their business decisions ..

so with such leaders bound together as a gang , then one can only expect another major sinking with a lot of casualties ...

Love me some Nortel member berries! Should have stayed far away from that company. Their Canadian technology and leadership has now destroyed 2 companies.
