Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Poll, for those who been around few years

  1. if you worked at the company since before '09 slump, do you think this year worst in morale than that time?

  2. do you wish to be RIF or retain job now?

Left recently, very long-term employee. Morale has never been lower. Management could care less, about employees or Seagate (esp. Luczo), and employees know it. Executive management does not have respect of employees; just want their fat checks, stock options and expense accounts.

I was laid off on Sep-09-2015. I was pissed at first, but after a while didn't care anymore. Now, I have a new job, less money than Seagate, but I'm glad I'm out of there now, and am starting a new career.

I left already, but the large RIF check would have been nice!

Way worse this time. People have really lost hope especially in the face of thoughtless and careless management and uncertain future of HDD. LEAVE IF YOU CAN NOW! There really is no future in HDD. DONE.

This time is worse. How much fun is it to get fired at Xmas? Even Clark Griswold was able to keep his crappy job over Xmas. He even got a bonus he could use to pay for a swimming pool!

Here? Just a pink slip.

This year is worse. Last time was a global economy crisis and this kind of crisis comes and goes every decade. This time is different. SSD is replacing HDD in nearly every application. The good times are not going to come back for HDD.

Morale: emotional or mental condition with respect to cheerfulness, confidence, zeal, etc., especially in the face of opposition, hardship, etc.

Only people who are rich enough not to care about getting laid off are feeling good.

Yea much worse, especially at tco since long term future is in doubt. Most just want this period of uncertainty to be over, one way or another.

Young enough that I would rather keep job, but if Rif'd that would be OK too.
