Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Who thinks new layoffs won't happen? Wrong much more to come!

So those at intel think no more layoffs after ACT1, if so why?

X86 volume hasn't stopped falling which means lower volume, scale, and profits.

Commodity efforts in IoT, automotive, modems and memory are all lower margins and intel can't compensate them with client or severs. No amount of lumping x86 here can change the fundamentals of a highly competitive commodity space, unlike x86 or servers.

More expensive x86 products are coming on 14nm, Kaby and Coffee and are uncompelling and big die and cost more to make. What's more 14nm yields aren't that great either to compensate even now.

10nm isn't here, not even close with magical scaling and cost reduction yet. What is worse it has big issues which means low output and high cost when it comes so years before real money is made on it!

BK and Stacy what are their options to keep margins? Can't stop 10nm that Titanic already sailed! Can't stop growth initiatives no matter how flawed they are in busting margins. He claims they will ignite growth, BK is wrong but he can't stop or stock will plunge.

NO, only option in 2017 and 2018 is the recipe of Blackberry, Kodak and others, LAYOFFS, more ACTs to come, get ready!

Ask BK why he decided 2016 12K was required when Intel still made tons of money and dominated. Was there something special 5 quarters versus 6 quarters versus 7 quarters of sliding sales, or something much more nobody is talking about at all, but that is all there in the open for all to see!

Clearly he thinks the "tipping" point has passed, or he wouldn't be trying so hard.

So I hear in the majority of post on this site about " the Tipping point" . So exactly who is the person who has decided when this tipping point is and what's the criteria involved in deciding this tipping point. Also who decided this criteria to say Intel is past the tipping point. I see an enormous amount of OPINIONS. ... just wondering. .

10nm will be the start of huge restructure and layoffs in TMG!

The cost will be an epic train wreck.

Pity the PTD and FSM slaves 😂

No Prius here, just Pinto and Yugo 😂

PTD delivers on Moore's and after all Intel is Moore! I have faith as Mark says intel is the best on circuit all the time !

All this empty talk, no worries 10nm is very healthy! Intel will rise again as 10 and 7nm will kick some TSMC and Samsung a$$, long live PTD!

Stacy's comment all but guarantees more lambs to alter, good luck for those soon to be sacrificed!

TSMC and Samsung are ramping 10nm and on track for their 7nm ramp. What has happened to TMG and LTD 14, 10 and 7nm totally successive increasing bigger train wrecks. Wasn't all this the doing of BK while he managed TMG?

But the 25K lambs are in complete denial about their ultimate fate. Look at the trend over the past few years. Technology wise, Intel blew it and is well past tipping point. Their 22nm and 14nm products will not be competitive, yet there sorry little lambs believe a miracle is about to occur. I will not feel sorry when they feel their asses hitting the pavement on the way out.

I agree more layoffs, the latest sales number checks and channel checks show that x86 sales continue to languish which means 14 and 22nm factories will continue to see underload. That combined with bone crushing startup costs on 10nm and wasted billions on new products with no revenue means Stacy and BK have no choice but find another 20-25k lambs for next year and unless 10nm can get to same levels as 14nm was in 2016, unlikely, the numbers suggest another 20k lambs to the alter to appease wallstreet in 2019, about 40k unless 10nm has improvement looking like a hockey stick and ask those in Hillyborro how likely is that!

Tipping point is past Intel is finished, those who are close know how dire and hopeless but hope for miracles.

Those who are smart will take their future into their own hands and act before the end comes.

No no no , I get what your saying. I just wouldn't ever count intel out. I think somehow they will do something to survive. If I knew what I would be the ceo of my own company rather than having a conversation of how I think intel will do it...

@KCKBkBc-1orq. Do share how all them initiatives from the brilliant SAN JOSE graduate is going to stop the Titanic from sinking, academically very interested in others view!

MS has already turned the ship, intel nothing yet 😉

soooo Intel will just let itself go down huh? Hmmmm. Interesting. ... Won't try anything different to change anything before that? Wow... you can use all the fancy numbers and formulas and predictions you want... like the man says.......TIME WILL TELL.....

Really, all other companies are the same?

Where does the world go for silicon these days? While Intel leads on revenue its days are numbered as the slips on 10 and 7 while TSMC and Samsung pull ahead! China is spending like crazy to build semiconductors. Intel is beyond the tipping point, others will ride the global economic tide. Intel is like the Titanic, guaranteed to sink but in a rising tide looks good for a bit before the plunge of 10nm!

If you are design, marketing, sales etc. better get off the titanic and find a ship that ain't destined for the bottom!

In 2018 it will all be obvious to the non believers!

Lol, so all the other companies in the world are in no danger ? No matter were you work you are always in danger of losing job, sales going down, different companies having competition ..yady yady yady. that's just the way it is... so if your fine at Intel and like your job, go to work and move when you need to...

Just like the Titanic, all is good till the $hit hits the fan and you are kicked out! Don't believe your manager, be informed and decide for yourselves what the future really is like, check with your colleagues in other divisions what is really going on!

Let's also not rule out all the lies being passed down from upper management. People below are expendable. Management will always try to safe it's sorry a-- even though they possess no skills to move the company forward.

How fast did Blackberry and Nokia disappear and they actually were in better position I think.

Let me ask you what's happens if 10nm can't be fixed. You see any evidence of that? Intel has billions spent in factory and millions of man hours in products that can't be made! The designs can't be moved to TSMC or Samsung as they don't have capacity and take a year+ to port the designs. My take 10nm very very best case is lead products trickle out end of 2017, ramp slowly 2018 and volume in 2019. 10nm a lot harder than 14nm so they ramp and learning will be even slower!

We already have Kaby as a sad stop gap, look at its sorry a$$ benchmarks just posted here. Coffee had a little more time but Intel designers aren't as good as AMD or Nvidia who know how to design leading edge with inferior process. The Intel designers have been spoiled. Now all of a sudden inferior process and they can't design a good product. Next generation product Canon and Ice have no learning on 10nm!

So it is fully possible intel is like the titanic! Arrogance of management and koolaid drinkers don't think it can go down, but the decions on 10nm made years ago is like the captain on the Titanic deciding to sail full speed. Iceberg has been hit and tipping point past! People in LTD are smart and working hard beyond belief but just like the poor crew in the Titanic, maybe the Bismarck is a better analogy. Once path decided nothing can save it and the end will be sudden and very 😖

You poor $OB I do pray for you all!

IBM , HP, Motorola, Blackberry, Nokia, Kodak, GM, Sears, Union Carbide.

Almost all were Dow components once that have now faded into irrelevance.

@2wgq/@1drn - Keep drinking the blue kool aid guys. It will probably take some years, but big companies like Intel HAVE fallen before or at least shrunk to the point where they are easily bought by another big company. Motorola, Nokia come to mind. Yahoo could be another example.

I know everyone, or most people on here , think Intel is going down . Now before all you Stat crazy, number crunching Internet investigating people start insulting me let me just ask ....do you really think a company this size with the amount of money it has is going to go down just like that?

I see it the same way you do, OP! Intel no longer has a chip technology that can separate them from the pack. Margins on 14nm will be even lower next year. To use your word, uncompelling! The employees are in complete denial so when ACT17 comes they will act as if they are in shock. The people following this board will have known and predicted this fallout well in advance.
