Heads of HR are not considered strategic business leaders at the same level as CEOs or Business Unit leaders so outside coverage of an old HR guy retiring are unlikely to make the news at a high level. There might be something closer to the actual leave date of March 31, 2017, and even then, probably in the HR press not the technical semiconductor press.

I too have been looking for days @3hzm and found nothing. However, I ran across someone yesterday I used to work with (I've ERPed) and said... 'Hey... what's this I hear about Richard retiring?'. This was a day after the news broke here. She said she heard about it that day but wasn't sure if it was announced the day before or not (admin that didn't pay attention to that sort of thing). But she did verify she heard it, just no info from her since she didn't pay it too much attention. To her it was white noise. shrug

Has anyone seen an official announcement that he's leaving? Nothing public that I can find, but maybe he's just not important enough to make the business press. HR after all.

Richard figured out the LAY-OFF-CRITERIA ... @2gos - for the desired outcome dictated to him. A criteria which does not make sense.

He's not so innocent,

when he carries out a massacre against the wrong people.

That may be the case @2bbi... but he does that at the direction OVER him. He doesn't dream this stuff up and knock on BKs door and propose it. He's TOLD to go figure XYZ out and any and all outcome is NOT in the employees favor. You're shooting the messenger here, guys. He's the fall guy for BK.

He never intended to improve the benefits of employees. He was responsible for detracting from them to save the company money.

good. he's responsible for the re-architecturing of the performance bonus system and payout schedules... as well as changes to our health care coverages...every time HR made a change, they tried to spin it as a net positive for the employees.. when the truth is it didn't benefit employees as a whole, and probably put them overall in worse positions, all so Intel could save money.....

In the days of Noyce and Moore, talent agility used to mean having employees who were smart and could quickly move into new areas and technologies, but who understood Intel culture, were effective in the organization, and above all, were people you could trust. Now it means hire and fire. Intel should just use all contractors. It's destroyed all employee trust.

All of of the executives at the top are like BK and Richard. There is no way to get to the top at Intel unless you are like them. You can see these people throughout Intel. Intel is in very bad condition. Richard was worse than worthless as he really did severe and permanent damage to Intel.

"Keynote address: Richard Taylor, SVP & Director of Human Resources, Intel Corporation: Competing in today’s market requires talent agility"

I'd assume "talent agility" has something to do with being able to source new employees and dispense with the old ones more quickly (i.e. layoffs of older employees, use of H1Bs, outsourcing and contractors). And "Competing in today's market" is Bain-speak for the blank check justification for treating employees (and contractors) in disposable ways.

@1zdh BK sees people as IP, HR sees them as Capital.

I'm pretty sure we would call "Talent Agility" a headcount action.

Richard is a leader alright.

what a long way from "the traitorous eight"

Clap..clap..clap... Way to go Intel. This is scary for those who remain, especially the VSP employees who did not take the package. Lol. I'll have my popcorn ready next March/April.

Why do we care about D-ck Taylor? Did he really matter for Intel one way or another? He should go with the Brexit decision.

I agree @ulw, but not necessarily before BK.

I HATE HATE HATED TWWW. I wasn't going to stick around for it and made the decision to go. That wasn't my only reason to leave but it was going to affect my timing of when I left. lol I was waiting around for a package but would have left without one if TWWW rolled around before a package did. Thank GOODNESS the package came out first.

With all due respect @dda & @vas... there was more to why that happened than meets the eye. At least from what I heard and I believe what I was told as it makes perfect sense.

I too was appalled at what felt like a heartless decision to make people do what felt and looked like the Perp Walk down the Hall of Shame. However, you can blame your peers for that decision, NOT HR. I heard they did that because last year when they allowed people to stay on for several weeks, WAY TOO many of them sabotaged things before they left. They deleted everything they could get their hands on, and more. I get why. They were extremely pissed off.

So.... come 2016 they decided not to give people time to do much harm. I also think that's why TAC was trying to cram that email backup whatever it was called down our throats. I refused to do it because I knew my time was limited, and I didn't want to spend it backing up important emails in the event something went wrong (and it usually does with their tools) and I lose important emails.

Why do I think that? because I was being hounded down to the very last minute and I finally responded to one of the spam guys that I wasn't going to do it because I only had a few days left before leaving Intel, so please stop bothering me about it. His response? It HAD TO be done. I thought 'hmmmm..... gotta be a reason they want all my emails backed up'.

I could be wrong but that's my opinion of why it went down the way it did. Makes perfect sense to me.

Next up needs to be Tunmore for ruining the workplace with TWWW bs. Waste a ton of money to lower everybody's productivity by a substantial amount just so millennials will feel good about their spaces. Let's not even mention how butt ugly everything is, like the 70's had a bastard child with old, out of touch corporate drones (see what I did there?).

There wasn't a single sensible reason for his decision to treat people like that. A person that makes such decisions reaches top is scary. How many such people are at the top and what will they bring to the future of Intel ?

Oh, there's definitely something we'll probably never know @pod. Could be death threats to him and/or his family. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that's happening to the guy. Maybe it is as you said.... he can't handle these large layoffs (he has a conscience). I don't believe it's the top HR person's job to come up with layoffs... they do as they are told from above. It's a job I'd never want. Everyone hates you because they think business decisions are all your fault.

I have confirmed it is real. Not external yet but apparently an announcement went out internally yesterday. Wonder what the politics were behind that. The official reason given for departure is 'more time with the family.'

I don't see this covered anywhere external. Was it on Circuit or did a message 'From The Desk Of' go out? I was definitely not a fan of the guy but who knows how much his hand was forced by BoD and BK. He told a group of us, a long long long time ago, that one of the most gut-wrenching events in his early career was when he had to preside over a mass layoff at another company in the UK. He said if he ever had to do that again he'd leave HR.

Wow.... He's one I thought would NEVER leave. Just wow.

Still nothing when I google though.... I'd have thought this news would be snapped up and out there by now if it's true.

If I was still at Intel, this announcement would freak me out. This means he can't stomach the coming ACT2 cuts after focal next year. Believe me, things are not going to get any better. Everyone at Intel needs to start looking for another job, or at least have a plan B and maybe a plan C.

Post ID: @gty+K9d09Lf

So, is he admitting that ACT was a complete and utter failure, or is he too much of a coward to stick around for ACT2? Or both?

by

probably not psyched about being around for ACT 2... note he departs march 31 2017.... right when focal should be rolling out...
