Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Customer Service, Sales and Field Ops decimation plans planned to be completed by 2018. Not a rumor. Just a pissed off former employee.

Shelton here. Last day Monday. Lots of public thank you's and well wishes. lots of private f--- you's. Spoke to past and present people from Bethpage.

Field - Most of us hears the rumors. Install, restarts, change of services, disco's will all be contractors. centralized the remaining techs and only those who can handle(maybe per depot?) trouble calls will be handled inhouse.

Customer Service - Call center staffing will be split between CSR and Tech Support depending on what the call is about. All csr calls will pnly be handled between day and evening hours only. Once that is set, outsourcing will ramp up, in both suddenlink and cablevision. ALL CSR will be outsourced. There will be no more CSR reps. Melville, Bartow will close. Only Newark and Jericho will remain. Tech support will remain inhouse. All reps will learn to upsell, regardless of what the call is about.

Sales - Staff will be cut. Prices will be standardized across the board and options will be limited. Skeleton crew will remain but most will be online based. Customer Service will handle upselling. Retention will be merged with sales completely.

Our new ceo also purchased a megamansion worth 31 million dollars in manhattan as per FierceCable.

Stop saying you owe the company anything you gave them just under 20 years of your life hell of a price to pay and now you cannot leave on your own terms you made this company billions of dollars and this is how they repay us I commend you for your efforts but you do not owe them anything you did a job and gave up your time to do it

I've been here under 20 years. I owe the OLD company a lot. I'm fortunate in that I was offered a package while many others still have not. The funny thing is, I WAS going to jump on the package as I'm not ready to retire BUT I'm certainly ready for a change. I wrote "but" because it looks like the Company wants to pay out over time rather than a lump payoff. So, since I'm not actually retiring from work, I would get about half my check every two weeks (as it's taxed at a 40% rate because it's technically a bonus and not a paycheck; then add in other taxes and it puts me about 50%); then I'd be paying full for FIOS (yes, I went there); and I'd be picking up my 401k loan as it would not be paid off before leaving. In the end I'd wind up with nothing until I find another job. The irony is that we're supposed to sign off by Dec 1, yet we're not getting definitive answers. But I can tell you, IF they do offer a lump Doell have to take it. In addition to losing people quickly, they're taking away 4 days off and now want us to pay a lot more for our personal cable service (we used to get cable for free, i'm currently paying over $50 and the new policy will at least double that). And this my friends, IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

In one fell swoop they just took away a week of sick time and the employee product benefit. When will enough be enough.

Bronx technicians who have not signed a union card as of yet need to wake up and realize that Altice is coming full speed like a freight train. They will destroy anything in their path. In UNITY THERE IS STRENGTH! UNION STRONG! TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!

It is a sad day for all Cablevision long term employees, I'm glad I got out before the dismantling of what was a great place to work. Charles Dolan GREAT man and I owe him a lot. Jim--- let just say what he and his wife did, is appalling. To all the people I worked with and for THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING 26 YEAR. I wish you all the best moving forward.

4 years safe means nothing. As long as they offer a position perhaps in NJ or Ct. They are covered with the PSC in NY. They will be banking on people not wanting to travel a long distance or possibly moving such as what is happening in Shelton

on page 79 of the Altice / NYPSC agreement reads --- "The Commission will prohibit Cablevision from laying off, or taking any action effecting an involuntary reduction (excluding retirement incentives and attrition), in any customer-facing jobs in New York in the four years following the issuance of this Order"

(1) pay special attention to the keyword "attrition"

(2) understand that every employee is "AT-WILL" - check first page of employee handbook for proof

(3) Altice will strategically outsource & contract out everything. (except in Brooklyn)

(4) Bronx trying to unionize right now. they better get it done quick!

That's only for ny. Not NJ or ct. Get the staff small enough so that the penalty payout that ny would get is much less than keeping the techs employed. (70 year rule)
