Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel knows how to ruin good engineers .....

By promoting them to managers. How stupid is this. The person has demonstrated a technological skill, have numerous accomplishments, developed expertise in a field, actually enjoy what they are doing, make positive contributions and their mgrs promote them to something they are NOT skilled at, managing people. Stupidity has killed Intel.

Just as Lion does not care about SHEEP's opinion ..

Not here to impress you or anyone @3sco 😎😎😊 I won't be the one rotting in a miserable company Intel devaluing myself with time. Am just passing my time until I can leave.

It is well known Intel is clueless in every aspect of their business. GMs and Directors are just trying to add people to their organizations to strengthen their positions and existence. They don't even attempt to fix the problems, processes or people issues. Favoritism and endless spending. Just to name a few, are well known outside Intel. I will never hire an Intel employee in my future corps of employment.

Exactly right

manager is technically good but management skills in negative direction

I did not expect this from such big company

Manager is nervous when pressure comes. Just work all the hours

No idea on SSL matrix and policy to map it w.r.t grade expectations

Actually they don't have time to read and understand , do home work , long term productivity from team and individuals

Just safeguard the self and move bananas randomly

I was about to laugh and shame being in the team

I will blame company not the person or manager

It's the fault in company policy in promoting people as manager

Working for few years in technical ladder will not give managerial skills

They can be principal engineer

Most of the company has this issue in technical field

Then, after the bad engineers also fail as managers, the other managers give them a lateral to IC.

That's called the "technical track" career path. You get PEs that are bad engineers AND bad managers.

The engineers are asked to do the impossible (7 perpendicular lines)

I speak from experience.

Ok guys, clearly you haven't done your homework. Please read through these to understand how Intel works:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_principle

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilbert_principle

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Putt%27s_Law_and_the_Successful_Technocrat

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect

There's also the Septic Tank Principle that best describes the Intel organisation: Big chunks of sh*t will always rise up and float on the top.

You all are jealous engineers stuck with no clue what your boss or bosses boss think is important. If you knew you'd be promoted two grades or a SLM manager already. You ready for ACT2?

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Its worse than that. They promote bad engineers to managers, they promote green engineers to managers. They promote bad green engineers to managers. They promote bad green engineers with PhD to managers. The place is run by bad engineers with PhDs and no experience. That's how you keep your URMs and PhDs when they can't do the jobs they were hired for. Either that or move them to HR.

Intel didn't invent this - it's just the Peter Principle in operation.

That being said there is a bunch of stuff urging people to grow out of their comfort zones. Could work for some, but people are different. Some people grow wildly outside their comfort zone, some wilt. Why "one size fits all"?
