Why don't Mr. Lampert just close all the unprofitable stores down? The stock price is low, just close the company down.
The answer to this is in the SEC filings. If too many stores are closed within a period of time, Sears will default on their existing debt.
The real question is do you really want to use them?
Man I hate this about the Savannah GA store closing, I have a ton of free shop your way points built up their. Any idea how long I will have to use them?
shame about the gainesville store- it actually looked like it had been renovated recently and was actually in decent shape compared to others- always seemed fully stocked but was always empty.
Eddie will shut down the unprofitable stores as soon as he transfers and sells all the Profitable stores to Seritage. If Sears sells the stores, they must pay off debt with the money, If he transfers the stores to Seritage and Seritage sells them then they get to keep the money.

This fraking s---s. I work at the Panama City Fl Sears. I am gonna post these flyers on Pebble as soon as they officially tell me I'm closing... It is so shady when they are selling the stores right out from under us. What a joke this company is.
The following stores are all also listed with this same realtor and will be closing soon pending sale. Seritage Growth properties has signed a an agreement with the realtor The shopping group, The shopping group will sale the Sears properties, upon sale, Seritage will provide Sears with notice that they are recollecting the space in the stores and that they must vacate the facility. If you are at any of these stores, beware Eddie is about to leave you out in the cold
