Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Is Aerospace really having a downturn?

Just for kicks and grins, I looked at the postings from 3 other Aerospace companies (e.g. UTC), and their posts are NOTHING like Honeywell's. Most of the newest ones are years old, and nowhere near as vicious! I know for a fact that Boeing is at a lul, but not as bad as the cronie leadership is portraying. Our current situation sounds like mismanagement and greed to me.

I did hear a rumor of downgrading non manager tier 4s. This sounds a bit extreme, but it seems quite plausible. Our facility has a VERY unusual T4 ratio (way too many for # of engineers). BUT that is due to a bazillion T2-T3 that have quite, retired, or been RIFd. We've lost more than 50% of our staff over the past 10 years.

We've been hearing that we've been in slow growth challenging environment for at least 7 years now. Aerospace is starting to hurt due to the lack of investment in the portfolio. It's all been about cost cutting existing products we've had for years. I can't believe the millions being spent on making existing products "more producible" but not redesigning them and adding new features.

Bombardier is going through a layoff cycle:

But still, I think more likely customers are fleeing from Honeywell. They don't care about employees nor customers, only the bottom line.

Growth through self-mutilation. Gets you awards, though. And the stock just keeps going up. Sick, eh?

In Torrance revenue as of the end of August was up 16% year over year. Sure sounds like we were struggling..not! The DMAIC wet dream is another story. Mike Madman's fantasy that he was going to find $34M just sitting there failed to take into account that our vendors are fed up with the Honeywell style of supplier management, and can't afford any more "help". Many suppliers said don't bother scheduling a Kaizen, they don't need Honeywell's business that badly. When DMAIC was rolled out last fall, it was called Project Normandy. I wondered who dreamed up that really poorly thought out name, and who the bodies floating in the surf would be? Now we know the answer to my 2nd question.

I haven't heard of any aerospace companies having it as bad as Honeywell. Why is Honeywell doing so "terribly"?
