Seriously, this would be a great company if they could only know how to pick mid-level managers - if they aren’t inexperienced, then they are abusive, and I don’t know which of these two types is worse. In addition, there to many people on mid-level which complicates things more, especially if you work in sales as I do. They should seriously consider some cutbacks on this level.

My SAP manager just “like” a HBR article titled “Working with People who aren’t self aware” The irony is he is the most self unaware manager I have ever met. He is stingy, pumpous, gives useless unsolicited advice, and always thinks he is doing a great job as a manager.

My manager is busying building his kingdom by bringing in his "relatives" of the same color. Is there any wonder why countries are restricting visas of certain profiles of high tech workers.
My mid-level manager was a high-level sack of sh--! My supervisor was a sadistic son of a b--ch! My substitute supervisor was an even bigger a-- bag than my supervisor! If I ever see any of those m------f----s again, I'll knock their goddamn teeth out! Anyone who thinks SAP is a great place to work is either high on crack or a complete ignoramus! Good riddance!
Some SAP sales people are definitely abusive, they do all the usual office tactics to signal to you that you are below them -- turn and talk to someone else when you walk up and initiaite conversation, walk past you like you are air, ask you to do all the admin work, ask you why customer is not buying but if there is a confirmed lead, leave you out of the entire process. And after all the bad treatment to people who are not part of their herd, they go on to SAP Winner Circle and rub shoulders with the VIPs and move up the career ladder.
This post hits the nail on the head about SAP. Abusive managers can thrive there and get support from HR and above. It's incredible to witness. The I'm a rock star culture enables bad behavior...senior executives are disconnected from the next level management.
Mine was inexperienced and abusive! Then got laid off... good riddance. Landed at a better job.

I've worked for 5 Fortune 500 companies so far, and every single one of them had "many mid-level" managers - that's how the work gets done, it's a natural progression in a typical career, mid level folks know the business and they contribute the most....
