There is no 401K participation - no contributions or company match for the salary continuation period whether you volunteer or were RIF'd

if you volunteer you may be ineligible for unemployment benefits

Yes this is true. You get your health, dental, vision, and life insurance through the month where your benefit period ends. This goes for your spouse and family members if applicable. You can still keep funding your health care savings account. Of course, I volunteered, and am pleased with the severance package. Was surprised at the huge book that lists all Honeywell employees. I think for those of us who were on the cusp on retirement and went for the volunteer RIF, you have to be very happy. For those who were involuntary it will be a difficult time for you. Try to be positive - have a positive attitude and try to look at this as a new phase in your life. There are other jobs. I know this sounds glib but you could end up happier than you ever imagined at another job. Life goes on. Best of luck to everyone.

I'd check that last part about the insurance if you volunteer. I was told that wasn't the case for the 2015 RIF, but they could have changed it.

The official email says its the same for voluntary and involuntary. 4 weeks min, 26 weeks max with 1 week per year of service. One thing I will say though is your health insurance is good up to the last day of the month your severance package ends.
