Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Roller Coaster Ride Over

Laid off today, honestly glad to be gone. The process was not bad at all. It was getting to the point where it was becoming a highly stressful situation. So very thankful they let me go, and hoping for better days ahead. The truth is ConocoPhillips was a great company to work for, the worst decision they ever made was to get rid of the downstream business. It has worked out well for Phillips 66, but not COP. Just keep in mind that when it is said and done they will be staffed like the rival independents. Gone are the times of being staffed like a fully integrated company with an upstream business on life support. Fairwell COP!

I walked out today too. Every day in that place felt like being in a guerilla war. Definitely nothing like the place it was when I started with one of the heritage companies.

I'm still laughing about OP comparison to a prison release. I was too chicken to walk out on my own, but after being forced out I am more than happy. I think the HR lady was taken aback by the big smile on my face theoughout the process. Hope oil goes up soon, and best of luck to those POWs still at COP.

Almost like being released from prison! At least you can get on with your life now. Good Luck!

The Downfall started in the mid 80's when Icon and Pickens took a run on Phillips. Mulva and Dunham lined their pockets well during the "Merger of Equals" which I never understood as Conoco's stock was $29 and Phillips $60.. Anyway Old Jim and then Ryan finished what Icon and Pickens started years ago.... as far as I see it depending on how long oil & Gas stay low as to COP is sold or not, don't kid your self any Company is for sale.. and Ryan will line his pocklets big time... then go to owrk at another Corp like Mulva and Dunham did..... History repeats it's self!

True, but the failure of Ryan and the ELT was not making the changes at the time of the split. Instead of being a highly efficient E&P company, we have pockets of cronyism caused by forcing non-performing major capital projects and corporate support staffs into the BUs! Ryan and the ELT have destroyed shareholder value and gutted the true talent from COP!
