Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Lets get on topic of Intel and "layoffs", forget this H1B and hate, lets look again at the facts why more layoffs are but certain.

There has been no real change in direction, no new real strategic thrusts, no real efforts to change culture or structure. The whole business has changed, and yet Intel is the same, just 12K less, but the same. More layoffs are but certain!

Intel has not proven that it can compete in the four new areas of "small revenues" laid out in the April plan. The declining PC business revenues continue to prop up the revenues from remaining business units, but we know PC chip production will not be the cash cow it once was. As chip production goes down, it will only be natural to layoff more people, mainly from TMG as they are losing business. ICF will get blown out of the water by TSMC.

Its funny everytime I see another analysts recommending Intc as a buy with good future growth! While in reality its so clear cut those drones, IoT, big data, .... are just words that BK and gang uses to make investors feel good, but is widely known it cannot generate the type of profits that Intel needs due to Intel's huge cost structure! When will reality sink in to the intc stock? When will Intel management and BOD wake up and realize things need to change? Management is still running Intel the way it use to be, huge unnecessary spending, throwing $ everywhere, uncontrolled spending in many departments. Many of my MIT colleagues (LM/PG site) have traveled >5 times in this 9 months alone! If only someone bother to look at all these uncontrolled spending, its huge amount of $ wastage!

@Jl7sysr-xmq - Oh I agree, it shows the position that Intel is in. Intel cannot innovate itself into the mobile space, nor self-driving cars, or VR so they are buying up the ones they can in an attempt to get at least some market segment share. Intel is not going away anytime soon, but their cash revenue and average selling price is lower and will continue the trend. IMHO , they need to take a cue from TSLA and get into something radical and HUGE. Space X or batteries - could be huge for TSLA - Is Intel in any of these...NOPE!! But I also agree that new leadership is needed like...yesterday ASAP.

Bottom line is the INTC stocks are up, so BK is doing a great job. Nuff said.

I think the analysts and markets are eventually going to catch on to the smoke and mirrors BK and BoD are trying to spin. BK and MCM better cash out their vested options when they can. Outsiders don't read or believe the corporate propaganda on Circuit, which is run totally by the marketing people and watched carefully by BK and MCM in case they veer from the message.

Having a clown who has no business being a CEO and to make matters worse, a clueless BoD.

This is cronie captialism where the good ole' boys scratch each others backs even as the ship is sinking.

@Jl7sysr-tfk. How does a small company of 10-20 and no profits and miniscule revenue rescue the company?

Need to fix Moore's law execution and design products that other companies want to put into thei system versus the same old thing from 10 years ago.

Huge scale cultural and structural changes are required as the business has completely changed and 12k generic layout was just stupid and useless and fixed nothing

Was clear in my hiring and focal that when senior managers and HR ask about URM fast track for hire and performance what is important to them and your career, LOL

Ignoring basic issues damaging morale and increasing resentment at Intel such as URMs will not make it better but will only contribute to layoffs and the talent leaving.

The only thing I hear on in the halls - ignore circuit as it is a feel good (except the in-memorians) and wants everyone to feel safe etc, is that Intel is buying up small companies to capture launch the next "big thing". Remember that the core cash cow is still desktop/laptop/server. This can and will last for many many years and you need a base headcount to maintain this. But I also do agree that Intel is heavy in headcount and expect 20K layoff.

ACTI and ACTII is just around the corner.

Once 2016 full ear and holdiday refresh continues to drop the second round will happen.

Once the true state of 10nm, Foundry, IoT and modems become clear ACTII in 2018 will happen

well said about staying on topic. I have noticed the administrator is being good about removing more off-topic or hateful posts. on the other hand, I suspect the vast majority of people who still come here are bitter ex-employees and that makes it difficult to have a fair and balanced and informed discussion about anything Intel. The Oregonian seems to have lost its source of leaked internal emails too, which reduces substantive real knowledge.
