Just make sure you're lowly paid.

Always tell them what they want to hear.
@1qcc , indeed, this is the most realistic scenario. It will be a slow, painful death, your mental health will be in deep danger. One guy in Europe jumped already under a train.
I keep saying it, best formula is to analyze your competition (coworkers) and do whatever it takes that your are more valuable for your manager than at least 2 of them. Unfortunately for 2015 I was moved to a new group where everybody was in the same site except me and I failed to follow this advice effectively.
@JkEYnjv-kpl. I already have, thank you. And the problem wasn't that I had too high an opinion of myself, it was that I didn't and so just stayed steady and ready and didn't do the Focal thing to inflate myself. I believe some very good employees were lost in ACT because the criteria were applied so broadly without a closer look at individual contributions. And because the whole Focal and Intel system is archaic.
It's good to know about all of this! I can predict where this Titanic is headed. I think this Titanic probably won't hit an iceberg. This Titanic will hit underwater rock. The irony is that it will be safe for the "unfit and non-conniving" to escape. Then the "elite/fittest/conniving" can survive in the immobile Titanic by devouring each other!
You have an overly high opinion of yourself.
If it would be so great at another company - by all means - leave!
I was nontechnical support person at Intel (but not admin). I thought by being a quiet cog in the machine, never pushing for promotions or increases, I would surely be safe. I worked with a lot of rock stars, and I was perfectly happy to let them bullshit their ways to all the DRA, recognitions, grade level increases, etc. In retrospect that was a huge mistake. Landed me in dreaded VSP territory, which they threatened us would turn into ISP the next time. So, I had the lowest grade and lowest compensation in the group, but was among the first to be pushed out under the ACT algorithm. Basically I didn't play the Focal game or the fake career development game and so was considered stagnant. At any other company, I would have been considered a steady, dependable performer but not at Intel.
How low is low ?
Your Intellectual Property is not a charity.
Just tell your manager that you're a guy by birth but decided to use the women's restroom today.
simple logic. Depends on your immediate manager and ship captain.
survival of the fittest.
Tell management that you fall under LBGTQ and you'll be untouchable.
