I am sitting here, looking for work. Nothing yet. Getting food on the table and getting kids a decent education weighs above my self esteem. Should i even have any hope about being called back? People still working, what are you hearing? Call me an idiot, but answer my question please

Slb can s--- my ..diiiiiiiiiick
I know it tough, but the most important things is your family must understand the situation. I cut my cable bill, adt, even sale my lexus to fit in the situation. If u have a family that want to understand and go with you thru this storm. That much better than work for slb.
Companies no longer value longevity or loyalty… many of us have been loyal and the only connections we have are those within SLB… my advice is to go work for another company and make connections there… networking is hard when you have been with only one company for 15+ years… good luck … we are in a household where my spouse and I both were laid off… we have good days and not so good days… you aren't alone…
I wouldn't recommend staying or going back to this company more than 5 years. Use the skills you have learned and make a move for a stable company. You won't regret it. SLB used to be a company you could work hard at and be rewarded with long term employment based on performance. Retirement with this company is getting rare and will be non existent in the future. Don't get over invested with time being employed by Slb. It will just leave you in your 40's or 50's without a job again. Be patient, the right opportunity will present itself when you least expect it!
networking, man! go and talk to alive people. join job search teams and professional organizations. go for training somewhere. do not be a robot! robots stay in SLB or unemployed. humans get jobs in normal companies.
I got the same feeling when they let me go at the first couple months but trust me you will be fine! I got a new job 5 months later and make more money in a new company (E&P) and happier now.
It is just a matter of time.
