Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Andy Bryant needs to resign.

He was the one who crusaded to elevate clown shoes to CEO. Let's look at the basis. TMG was already falling behind in pursuit of Moore's Law (22nm rolled out late and PTD support stayed extraordinarily long due to yield issues), decision to build Fab 42, chip production costs skyrocketing. And being a Fab monkey, this was his forte! If he couldn't fix these specific issues in an area of his expertise, how was he supposed to excel in growing the company in other areas he knows nothing about? This is the point where the Board drove Intel off the cliff by putting it's future in the hands of an inexperienced douchebag.

Renee was not that bad - she at least had ideas and some courage to follow them

How could we forget Renee?

Her enormous gravitational field itself was enough to alert us to her presence.

Board picked two jokers, not just one. Remember Renee James ?

@JjHzQyg-1apw. there was an earlier thread about this. first, the market in general has been up. second, major HC reductions always boost stock. third, they are buying back lots of stock to artificially boost the price, a common market tactic when stock is anemic and leaders want to cash out their own options.

The stock market is not pricing in the risk of ARM eating the client as well as the server markets.

Furthermore, Intel has been aggressive in borrowing In order to fund stock buybacks. The next stage in profit levitation will be cuts - expect more layoffs. Once you've borrowed to your limit and cut to the bone - then you'll see the stock respond. But for now - wheeee!

If Intel is going down due to it's leadership, explain to me why Intel stocks prices are up? Anyone? It will be stockholders who will remove Andy and BK when that time comes. Do I believe both these men are a negative to Intel's bottom line? Yes, but not at this time. We'll see

Nobody in their right might would willingly take the Intel CEO job if they are from an outside company.

They looked and we were stuck with BK. That speaks volumes about how toxic and unfixable the Intel culture is.

@pen re: Andy was a bean counter CFO. What does he know about innovation?

Andy is simply a member of The Good Old Boy Club

The days of the trinity (Noyce, Moore, Grove) are long gone ... so sad for this once great company

This choice in CEO certainly tells you the quality of the Intel Chairman and BoD. Many people new Intel needed something BIG at the time. They needed a person who understood the business, where Intel currently stood in the business world, the issues it was facing, and a serious gameplan to resolve. It needed a proven leader that had shown success at other companies. Ergo, they choose this clown. Probably the most stupid, most assinine decision ever made by the BoD. Look what has transpired in a very short 4 year timeframe. All that effort that Noyce, Grove and Moore placed in building the company, as well as thousands more very dedicated employees over the decades, all pissed away in a scant few years. Historically, this decision is on the BoD. They should eat the criticism for allowing the seller destruction to occur.

Without a activist shareholder with enough clout, you can all forget about displacing anyone on the board. Look at what happened at Yahoo.

Compare the Intel BOD to TSMC you have Morris and then Andy is one joke! You add to that one board has Mike and Thomas whole Intel has none of that.

Than at CEO you have a San Jose BS with no technical and fundamental physics training compared to PhD educated from Berkeley and Yale running the company running circles around Intel.

Intel has an incapable CEO and a board incapable of comprehend so the titanic continues to take water.

What are the odds that Andy Bryant has never used a smartphone? I'd bet good money that he's never handled one.

There is an Intel company rule that no employee over the age of 65 can hold a company officer position. That is why Barrett retired and Rattner, more recently. Apparently that does not apply to the Board or Andy would have been gone by now. Unless someone changed the rules while we weren't looking.
