Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Google buying Apigee today is more bad news for IBM.

Apigee had already been taking lots of API business (and technical people) away from IBM, as they have the better API cloud product, but now they have that plus corporate viability. There goes even more IBM revenue, and of course will mean associated RAs/layoffs/firings.

This is seriously bad news for anyone selling IBM Middleware. A lot of blood, sweat, toil and tears were spent on IBM's API Management product...plagued with quality problems and many (often puzzling) changes in direction but nonetheless a large part of forecasted revenue that will never materialize.

Google will no doubt give away the Apigee software to sweeten usage of Google APIs. Losing the APIM revenue will be bad enough but IBM's API Management product has tie-ins to other software such as DataPower and BlueMix so there will also be a fair bit of collateral damage that will accelerate the downward spiral in progress at IBM Sales.

Q3 will be horrible. The BIG reorg that moved IBM from Geo's to Industry focus has left sales folks angry and scrambling. 80% of accounts have been disconnected from their sales and tech teams. And tons of IBMers are being RA'd and leaving on their own.

Shareholders will feel it when the 3Q results are announced, if IBM chooses that time to adjust their yearly EPS guidance. They may chicken out and just wait until the end of the year and make it a "big surprise" but in either case, the stock will drop like a rock then. When 3Q results are announced it will be clear anyway that we can't make it. It's virtually impossible now, IBM is only 40% of the way there and there's nothing big in the deal hopper, more and more customers and top talent leaving, and continual bad news. It's chaos internally, stress and low morale. I'm sure some of these recent debacles will lead to revenue reversals and lawsuits.

One by one our pillars of revenue crumble, here we have a classic example of revenue erosion... No, we will not feel this in October, we will not feel it in 2017 but I guarantee you that the pain is on it's way - our execs are all short term focused and they could care less what will happen in future - they have a 4 quarter horizon while attempting to extract as many bonuses as IBM is willing to hand out
