Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

NOV Allows Product Line To Die Due To Dummy VP Running The Group AmClyde & Unit Cranes No More

The Lifting & Handling group led by Richard Urquhart has to have a big cut coming or even closure with no orders and unsold completed projects sitting in our Louisiana Plant

Richard or none of his clone upper managers have a clue on how to recover other than just keep laying off good quality employees some had over 20+ years experience in both the engineering, manufacturing and service of a great product

People forget that the one thing that every drilling rig or production platform needs is a crane

NOV's greed for more money in a market that has at least 8 other crane companies competing sold themselves out of the market

engineers and manufacturing lowered the cost as asked by management but management didnt want to lower their profit margins to be competitive

No crane sales , no part sales and no service to provide

Everyone here in our Louisiana plant are just waiting for the day to come, got our boxes packed since we have seen over the past 1-1/2 years how they do their lays offs here and in St Paul

Sad that a great product line that has been around for over 30+ years went down hill so fast after this Scotish a-- took over

RIP L&H Group its been a good ride while it lasted

Well still no news so we all just stroll around looking for something to do

Expecting things to change in the next couple weeks when quarter returns are released

Telling them you have nothing to do. Not too bright are you. Get laid off and lose your health insurance and then see how smart you really are.

Well another week has gone by and now start another week of walking around with nothing to do over here in fantastic Covington La.

Thanks again NOV, Richard, Jim and Joe

This horse gets easier and easier to ride each week

Totally agree - Pete Miller needs to come back before NOV collapses to the ground. The man had a heart. His people were his greatest assets. Clay and his goons who sit on the board needs to be fired first before they release the people who actually bust their asses to keep the company afloat.

Still nothing out of our great management team in Houston on changes or new orders

Another week another pay check, not bad getting paid to do nothing and with benefits.

I will ride this horse for as long as I can

Thanks NOV especially Richard, Jim and Joe

Well, to be clear, it's not my company anymore, so I am not too worried about expressing my opinion. And to the remark that everyone in my group knows who I am, that's fine as well. All my best to those who are still with NOV. Good luck in riding out this storm.

Wow! Everyone in your old office knows that it is you who posted this, yet you are publicly stating that you don't like how the company is run, but I am the ignorant fool?

You completely missed the point of that statement. I am totally aware of why my position was cut. However, anybody that's been around NOV for at least 5 plus years knows this company is not run the way it was when Milller was in charge. i accepted this decision with dignity and grace but really enjoy when some Ignorant fool can't fully comprehend a statement here and fires off a stupid response.

Let's see. There are no orders or work but according to you " That said, this is a completely different company than it was just 2 years ago......and the downturn only has a little bit to do with it."

Anyhow, I come to this board for laughs. This one is a winner. Seriously, you can't figure out why you were laid off. So the company should keep people on the payroll when there is nothing to do?

You can't swing a lay-off package in Houston without hitting a building that has "NOV" emblazoned on it. It seems that when the money was good, management spent money like drunken sailors. Now, the whole thing is collapsing like a house of cards.

Got my walking papers today. Sad to go as there are some really good folks in Rig and at NOV that I will really miss. That said, this is a completely different company than it was just 2 years ago......and the downturn only has a little bit to do with it.
