Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is nothing happening ?

No announcements or changes. Is the company just going to let these Kmart stores rot? We have almost no employees, yet the head office wants everything done. The service desk is the only register open most of the time. We don't have very many customers, but the ones we have want to be waited on like we're an upscale department store. we are getting flooded with stock that just sits in the back on pallets and will likely get marked down. We are getting in a boatload of Christmas decorations and there is no one to put it out. Our store has lost almost 200K year to date and there are two others in our district that are about the same and many others that are near/over 100k. The company is losing 4.5 million a day and they just don't seem to care about their workers or customers at all. I have never seen anything like this and really don't know what else to say. If you own any of the bonds or debt in this company or are vendors who are still shipping, I would be very concerned about this. they are playing some kind of game and you are going to be the ones paying for it.

It is truly bizarre how kmart is being controlled now. What we have to do now is remember that WE are the ones that put our best in to it all and WE must go down the road looking out for snares and just make it through. It is really rotten what we have ended up with. Just do things on your days off that make you happy and know that God will smile for that. God wants us to enjoy the seasons and all that He has made. We can't keep going in to SHC and expect fulfillment for a job well done. Sad but true. Make sure you enjoy the life you have and do not despair that it can't be your hard work at Kmart anymore or sears that is your fulfillment. We have every sunrise and every wind through the trees and we know how hard we can work. and we can go in tomorrow and give SHC what they paid for...exactly what they paid for.

My store has lost about 900k so far, may be more. No store manager, no softlines asm. Our LPM is now hourly. We are a lease store, the lease runs out in 2018.

Eddie is planning to shut down all of the stores, eventually. So just like a crappy car that you are going to drive until it dies, you are going to keep filling it with gas just to keep it running, and change the oil, but not spend a dime on it you don't have to.

So the question is, do you want to be along for the ride when the wheels fall off?

First let me say i m so happy that we have this site. Its been nice to connect to others in the same situation. I also hate these shirts. I will not wear one either. We are also getting big trucks in. We are not a big store but we have been getting 2 trucks a week of at least 1400 pieces. We have 4 people to do the trucks. We dont have a loading dock. Hardly anything comes on pallets. Those same people have to put the freight out. Now 2 other workers come in so there are 6 people expected to put all of the freight out. Now the 4 on the truck crew get 4 hour shifts and only on truck days. The other 2 also have 4 hour shifts.

Its Halloween now and 1 person to do the layout. We are not allowed to keep anything in our stockroom. Everything goes on overheads. Nothing gets sent back. Our store lost almost double what we did last year. After inventory just jewelry lost over $100,000

Every store in our district is way down in profit. Even the ones that are profitable are down considerably to last year. Our store lost well over a hundred year to date last year and has exceeded that now. All the stores that are losing money are farther down this year than they were last year. I keep hearing nonsense about some stores in our district like "well, they own the building". What does it matter if they own the building or not when you are tanking as fast as you are.

Are your stores losing more money at this stage of the year than they were last year- that's a key question or are things stabilising or even improving?

the shirts ARE RIDICULOUSLY awesome. It was our raise? I got the shirt and then nearly got fired for asking for a raise. it was ugly but I am still there. warning to anyone who asks for a raise. you will be treated worse than you thought could happen if you ask for a raise.....ugly, so ugly. So, the only thing to do is give 'em what they paid for....AMEN.

I won't ask what district you are in. It sounds just like ours, though. How Bout Them Tshirts? Wasn't that a genius idea? How are they paid for it we can't get ANY raises for so many years? I will Not wear one for work but always take one to put in my KMART memorabilia pile. I think a raise would have gone further for the money. I don't know what else to say either. It sounds just like your post. God's best to you. we are on the Titanic going down (and corp. grabbed the lifeboats and we do the best we can.)
