Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Now I'm joining the lawsuit!

For the last couple of years, HP has been executing so called WFR - Work Force Reduction. I was hit with it at end of July this year. During my 10 years at HP/HPE I only received great reviews, was well recognized by the clients I worked for. I'm 69, but wanted to work for another 2-3 years. Now I'm joining the lawsuit!

How the hell would electing a free market capitalist with a record of poor employee treatment fix any of this? Other than the fact he does this with his own Companies rather than other people's, Trump (in the UK this another word for Fart) is no different from Whitman, Turd or Fiorina or any number of others.

If ypu wanted any hope of change you'd go for Saunders but the US electorate is collectively too dumb to see through the lies peddled about left wing politics

Whats happening at HPE and its blatant disregard for American employees and outsourcing their jobs or hiring H1B VISA workers that have filled positions that Americans can do is flat out illegal and a crime that harms people's lives. Meg, board members, and any CEO who engage in this strategy should be prosecuted to the fullest penalty and server years in prison. I hope one day that this pay for cheap labor plan bites them in their asses eventually. Meg, Fiorina, Hurd, and other unethical CEO's of companies who exploit cheap labor should all be locked up at Guantanamo and waterboarded. They deserve it for the thousands of lives they've screwed. They dont care. They get paid millions to do the devil's work. The revolution is coming and these greedy bastards will get what they deserve. Its no wonder why a guy like Trump who will quite possibly be the dumbest president, could get elected because of the crap that these greedy blood s---ing management have dragged this country through. I dont want the guy to be our next president. But if this is what it takes to send a message, than I'm in. Hopefully in 2020 we get someone even more radical than Trump and willing to put these unethical CEO's to death row. They flat out deserve it. Sorry all for the blunt comment, but these people have destroyed thousands of families and its leaving all of us without food to feed little Timmey.

@1slg

You don't know what a persons situation is. May well be 70 and need to work every bit as much as the 50yo. Please don't make assumptions about other people.

You really don't generate much sympathy being 69, it's the people that are 51, one kid in college and a couple still in high school you worry about.

Took Meg's initial ERO after 29 years with the company, the writing was on the wall, it shouldn't be that surprising, if I was 69 and only had 10 years with the company I would be grateful it lasted that long.

It is still a violation of Texas law to discriminate on the basis of age. Meg can run but she can't hide.

I would say its more salary discrimination than age. At that age you have worked your way up to a hefty nice salary and why would they keep you when they can hire someone a few years out of college and 80k of student loan debt that is desperate for a job and will accept a salary that is likely 1/3 what you were making?

Free market economics in a right to work state! The state laws protect the company (not you). Why on earth do you think companies flock to Texas in the masses? (Its because in TX the labor/employment laws favor the business)

Feel for you, but they've been laying off all ages regardless of performance. The only requirement for WFR is that you live in a high cost country that allows workers to be easily shed.

I'll never forget the first layoff wave I witnessed in HP (back in 2001) under Carly's tenure. I was in Cupertino, and I recall well the layoff of a lady that should have been around 65 years old - and with the Company for around 28-29 years. Needless to say it was really heartbreaking watching her reaction... This has been a 'hidden' issue in US Companies for years and years. I guess what differentiates HPE now is how openly Meg talks about it as a formal strategy. Scary... I really hope she and HPE pay a really high price for such disrespect. Go for it, guys! Kiss @ss!

I got a bonus the same week I got laid off and I'm over 50. My reviews were always meets or exceeds and that's after 16 years of service. Go figure.
