Age Discrimination Class Action Suit against HPE

#AgeDiscrimination Class Action Suit against HPE (San Jose Mercury News 8/23/2016): PALO ALTO -- Four former employees of Silicon Valley icon Hewlett-Packard have filed an age discrimination lawsuit alleging they were ousted amid a purge of older workers. The layoffs began in 2012, before the company broke in two, and would eventually hit tens of thousands of workers. The goal "was to make the company younger," said the complaint filed Aug. 18 in U.S. District Court in San Jose. "In order to get younger, HP intentionally discriminated against its older employees by targeting them for termination ... and then systematically replacing them with younger employees." Arun Vatturi, a 15-year Palo Alto employee at HP who was a director in process improvement until he was laid off in

For the last couple of years, HP has been executing so called WFR - Work Force Reduction. I was hit with it at end of July this year. During my 10 years at HP/HPE I only received great reviews, was well recognized by the clients I worked for. I'm 69, but wanted to work for another 2-3 years. Now I'm joining the lawsuit!

How hp/e treats the mature experienced is the secret most if not all employees know about. Glad to see a firm taking this up.

Glad to see this is making the rounds. According the firm you can still join the suit because this is just the initial filing to get approval to move forward. Even if you signed the waiver you can still join which i am and have already spoke with the firm. After 30 years and top reviews i was let go after several college grads were hired 3 months before and took over my role. I was even told that i was doing such a good job i was giving above average raise. Go figure.

Blatantly stated age discrimination in this video (link below), describing plans to hire "young people straight out of college at the beginning of their careers". It was surprising to see a CEO make such a public statement when this interview appeared on the nightly business news a few months ago. You would think unethical and/or illegal discriminatory hiring/firing strategies like these would be done more quietly behind the scenes, not actually admitting to it on national television. Looks like it is coming back to haunt them in the form of a class action lawsuit.

I really hope they kick @ss and win big time. I think Meg's pyramid clearly states the discriminatory strategy. Hope justice prevails over money. It's time to give these mf's a good lesson.
