10nm slipping .... Tick Tock Doe and Dumb

I will wafer 10nm is going to be later, much later than expected

Intel’s process cadence has moved from two years to 2.5 years. What about 10nm?

Bohr: I am not sure we are going to be quoting any expected cadence. 10nm may take a little bit longer. Maybe a better phrase is that each generation will be a little bit different.

When will Intel ship 10nm products?

Bohr: The second half of next year is our plan for volume shipments of our lead 10nm product.

Intel 7nm pushed to 2021-2022 timeframe according to the following article:

http://www.fool.com/investing/2016/09/02/intel-corporation-may-have-pushed-7-nanometer-tech.aspx?source=yahoo-2&utm_campaign=article&utm_medium=feed&utm_source=yahoo-2&yptr=yahoo

By then TSMC will have 2 FULL YEARS of high volume prod on their 7nm and will be well on their way to 5nm, if not shipping it already. So that means TSMC will have completely reversed Intel's original lead of 1 full process node ahead.

Ouch... 10nm in 2018, would hate to be in TMG and PTD this and next year, $hit will be flying left and right for sure...

That is a lot of equipment, people and doing no revenue generation, but hey the 14nm factories will have some loadings, LOL

I think even second half of 2017 for 10nm is questionable at this point. More like 2018. If not, then why plan for a FOURTH 14nm product next year (CoffeeLake)?
