Thread regarding Sears layoffs

No more repair drop off for lawn and garden items in Sears stores?

what do other stores think of the new service arrange for lawn and garden items, basically all four cycle products, will no longer be dropped off at a local Sears store then shipped to a central service center, starting next week the members will have to go to a local independent service shop for warranty work under the manufacturer or protection agreement warranty.

Can't you just hear people already complaining that they now have to drive somewhere else to drop off their lawn mower especially when they do not even know where the new service shop is located and that they are not open nights or weekends!

Should be fun, plus making it so much easier to sell PAs .

That is funny in a not funny way. L&G defer and send p'off customers to Auto. I so much hate that. Then you have to go through the "Yeah, but they told me you could fix it."

Probably we could and if it is something simple, and often do help, but that is not how it should work. Lawn and garden is not us. Did you put any gasoline in it? Try that idea. Auto does not have any gasoline on hand.

At this point does Sears really seem to care about shrink though? With more and more reductions in loss prevention teams it sure seems like it is no longer a priority

These repair shops are making a killing off of sears because they are the ones that decide if a product is deemed an uneconmoical repair... Sears never sees the merchandise again and as a rpa I can tell you almost everything that goes there turns into pure shrink

Lower end than SHC's own offerings? They've shut down most of their own service centers, which at one time were quite good. Not so anymore.

Some stores have been doing this for a long time. It's was presented as something that would help the member save time but from the experiences that I've had these shops are very low end and they don't represent the company well at all and add to the fact that like you said they don't open on nights and weekends when most drop offs happen
