Just got fired from IBM today.
I'm 64 and so was expecting the axe to fall at any time.
All the people who are my age are either being let go or retiring, IBM seems to want younger, cheaper employees as a conscious policy.

CEOs all trade ideas at c---tail parties as they munch on their caviar.
Take a read at the active AT&T or Cisco sections of this site. Same thing: going after the older workers.
It is well known that he most recent Layoff/RIF/RA/LR (pick your favorite acronym) at Cisco was brutal to a lot of long time employees. Ginni, Randy and Chucky share ideas, I'm sure.
Grandpa? Seriously? IBM and I made a deal almost 40 years ago. I kept my part, and they walked away from theirs. I hope your childish arrogance is enough to keep you from getting similarly screwed over.
Good luck grandpa. Hopefully by now you have enough money to retire
I feel your pain, albeit you are double my age, and I have a long way to go. -All the best!
I am sorry to hear this - if you feel that you have been discriminated against based on your age please reach out and see if you can get some legal help - there is a ton of examples where employees succeeded in their claims if wrongdoing took place - do not disregard this option as you will be helping others as well.
On the other hand, if you have been hired as an older worker, I think IBM can prove that they acted properly (hired and fired an older worker - so no wrongdoing)
Anyhow, good luck....
