Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sunday Member Event

So let's talk about this lowest price of the season Member event nightmare on Sunday.

First, there are so many Member events now that they really do not drive traffic into the store.

Thanks corporate marketing.

Second, Points that they do not have access to until January 16, 2017! What an incentive to shop from 6-9 on a Sunday during football season for inflated prices for the possibility of maybe just maybe catching a few points in January 2017.

Third, how are we going to apply those points? A barcode that probably won't work? A barcode that will need management to approve? Points people will conveniently forget about several months from now. A pain in the butt for commission people cashiers, over worked MODs. Constant calls to SYW.

YOU GUYS ARE CLUELESS!!!!

Thanks for this wonderful Member event that will drive little traffic to stores that are rumored to be closing next year anyway.

We had about twenty people who knew about this even during my shift (6 hours). When they went to check out there were so many exclusions and rules neither the manager, cashier (me) or the customer knew what was right or wrong. In frustration our manager just gave the customer 90% off of the item. We lost money on most people yesterday

In Pittsburgh everyone had to run around like jackasses passing out colored photo copies of the event to all the businesses in the area as well as their friends and family. The only people that ever got a good deal were the management's pet employees. They always got the F&F discount, the employee discount, SYW Points off and the whining discount for discontinued and damaged merchandise. Mattress = $50 total. Range - $600 off. Pool Table $20. Zero Turn tractor $500 including the Bag.

Its ridiculously awesome, NOT!!!

We have so many promotions half of the associates who work for the company cannot even understand how they work, much less the members.

I made (around) 40.00 the last memeber event. Obviously I'm on commission.

People aren't dumb.

They know we mark things up to mark them down for these events.

This one is the worst.

Give them the difference back in points they will not see until January? When we already have a 30 day price guarantee? So are we going to match the price and the points? How many times can they come in and do this?

If we ask on Pebble they are going to say refer to the matrix. What matrix?

Just another confusing promotion.

Have we done this one in the past?

Please seasoned people chime in. I can't see how this one is going to draw a crowd.

What about online purchases? Do they count too?

It's time to find a new job. Sears just isn't making any sense any longer.

I don' know of any present or past associate that even bothers going to this other than the associates that are working. Years ago when we had the "associate" events it was like a party. They served food, had giveaways and you saw ex associates that you had not seen in years. The stores were packed. It is all one big waste of time now.

I agree. These member events/Family and Friends sales are overhyped and overrated. Store traffic drops flat right after our normal closing hours. Dead. We're left standing around WITHOUT A SINGLE CUSTOMER every single time.

Of course we are not the only store where these "huge" sales end up being a waste of time, money and payroll. So many other employees are sharing their experiences on Pebble regarding how these events usually never work, yet corporate delusionally keeps at it. Only the bigger stores with longer hours where the mall stays open later MIGHT be worth it, but those Sears stores are far and few between.

I'm scheduled 9.5 PAINSTAKING hours.. our store will be REALLY dead due to a bad storm. No one is going to want to go out in bad weather to buy something on a "really good sale" (when mostly, the prices aren't all that different than before, and a lot of sales require the much-lamented Sears card).

9.5 hours on my feet, in a dying store. Yeah, I am looking forward to this!!!!

The company may be gone in January. Those points may never be redeemed. Also, if they didn't buy Spring inventory you can buy winter clothing in January.
