A recent disclosure from TSMC suggests that it may have neutralized Intel's competitive advantage in this area of chip manufacturing.

Forget foundry which has been nothing but a failure with the thousand of people working on it.

Soon their CPU folks just like their modem and chipset designers will envy those who can design in TSMC technology which now on 10nm is matched and easier to design in and at 7nm will be superior! Volume matters and intel volume and singular focus on x86 was both a strategic and technical blunder they have yet to recover and will cost the company another 40000 or more jobs in the next two years . The stock bounce will all be forgotten in two years, LOL

Intel marketing is all about getting has been stars / personalities and trying to convince themselves they are "hip". Mr. Staples Fail (SF) probably wanted hit the bong with Phelps.

Intel process while in the past industry leading is difficult and restrictive to design in. TTM is critical and if process was so good why haven't they have any business? Now x86 while still profitable is in a long term slide and Intel's days are limited.

Now that TSMC is matched in technology ramping their 10nm and 7nm is just around the corner Intel's days of leadership are done. TSMC has to ramp a new iPhone generation every year and that tick tock volume is larger than Intel's x86 volume so TSMC can commit bigger R&D and has far larger factories than Intel. The virtuous cycle has been passed from x86 to ARMy and BK still hasn't done anything to change it.

With the world moving to ARM dominated computing Intel's future is about as bright as Kodak was in the 90s. More good ACTs coming, if you are a TMG employee you better have a life jacket and big changes and layoffs are coming, LOL!

Intel customized Foundries are not a match for TSMC. TSMC is a proven leader in foundry production and easily eclipses anything Intel can do, especially in the area of cost. To be forced to go, ICF is truly raising the white flag of surrender in chip technology. Who really knows how long this organization can remain solvent while hemorrhaging $$ and losing the chip technology race. PS TMG employees remain clueless about their futures.

And what is the deal with Intel marketing coming out with that stupid, new Parsons/Phelps commercial about upgrading your laptop? Did they not get the message that the PC market is in rapid decline? The money is elsewhere. Why waste money on a losing TV commercial?
