Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

RCGs hired in OR/SC are average based on my interactions with several of them. Did Intel lower the bar or top candidates are avoiding Intel?

Diversity and inclusion. Hiring decisions based on race and gender can supersede hiring the best. And the leftists driving this mentality despise capitalism and favor socialism. EQUALITY. Feelings over facts. Yay Team!!

The millennials I know (quite a few, due to my son and DIL and their many friends all being in that demographic) are avoiding Intel. My DIL and her best friend both had Intel opportunities and turned them down. When I asked why (I could have gotten a referral bonus!) they said they had researched the culture, the 2015 layoffs, focal and standing in the industry in terms of future technologies and trends. They both declined, based mostly on culture. Also, millennials are not looking for lifetime employment at a single company. That is so Last Century (mid century in fact). My career consultant told me (and I believe it) that these days, being TOO LONG in one place is a bad thing on your resume. For Gen X and Gen Y, average tenure at any one place was about 5 years. For millennials, it is tracking at 18-month to 2 years, she says. Meanwhile, if you do want a tech company and the best pay, the top-notch young are going to Google, Apple, Amazon--anyplace but Intel as a first choice. It might be different if they are in a captive location and don't want to move for whatever reason, but Intel in Folsom or even Hillsboro is a dead end. When I was inside, it seemed just about every intern in my area was an employee offspring or other close relative, and of course they became the next RCGs. Unless an intern really screws up, they are virtually guaranteed a job, and I see that disproportionately going to 'family.'

If a person has choices, why would they choose Intel?

If a person had talent why would they choose Intel ?

Intel has long since been the choice of the talented.

The best don't come to Intel, why would you the future is dark.

For the ones that come there is little growth, look at x86, and do you think we are competitive in any of the new thrust, smart people avoid Intel like the plague,

For those that are here, they should know that too.

This needs to be explained again...

There is ZERO growth at Intel.

That means that opportunities for advancement are not there.

Young people wanting to move up and advance have far fewer shots when a company has zero growth.

The grade structure is a pyramid with fewer at the top vs. the bottom. The way to get more people to higher levels is to GROW the size of the pyramid. Good luck when the cash cow is in a tailspin.

Smart young people know this and avoid low growth companies like the plague.

This company will be toast in the near future. Far too much politics and far too little winning with products.

How can Intel hire the best when dumbest people of HR are out there recruiting RCGs and URMs.

Maybe HR is hiring the wrong kind of people.

Isn't HR the org for below average, intelligent people in need for laid back relaxed work environment with minimal work pressures ?

I think both from what I'm seeing and hearing. If your goal changes from "hire the best!", to "hire RCGs & URMs only"... then you have to take what you get and it's not going to be the cream of the crop. Sure, some may be, but all of them will not be when you're trying to fill quotas.

Stupid way to do business if you ask me. Is nepotism only when you hire friends and family or does it include when you only hire "your kind" (Morman, WM, Indian, etc.)? I saw a LOT of that and never understood it since I have a 'hire the best' mind. I can separate liking someone and thinking they're not right for the job, and disliking someone and thinking they do a great job. I'd favor the person that did a great job over the one Iiked. Unfortunately not everyone can think that way.

At least they are more involved in RCG events based on the attendance than doing work.

I don't remember any events when I joined Intel, must be a BK thing
