I think I'm going crazy. Over the last 2 years my team in USL has shrunk by 70% while the amount of work my team that was laid off has been passed onto me. I can't handle the stress and demands as a result. My wife says I should seek help and I know SLB has an external mental health hotline. If I call and report, could I be let go as a result? Should I document or create an RIR and flag it as restricted? Any advice?

Listen to your wife she knows you better than anyone. Go to psychiatrist or therapist. There is no shame in doing it. I my self did saved my life. And future good luck. I know how you feel.
Don't create an RIR
Contact the hotline
Seek help
There is no job worth putting your health (family and well being) on the line.
You are the only one who knows how much work you can shoulder. When it gets to that point, you need to let your supervisor know. Otherwise he or she thinks you are doing fine and will meet job requirements / deadlines etc. Don't keep them in the dark. Better to lose your job than your health and sanity. EAP is a load of crap BTW.
Protect your family- get divorced and seek a restraining order on yourself.
Untie your dog and tie yourself at home.
At work tie yourself with your laptop lock to protect others.
Best case- resign and get institutionalized ASAP
It's moronic how a mentally unfit person can find a good doctor himself. In normal circumstances family should do it.
Guess what must be going on with his team to deal with him.
My suggestion would be to go see a priest or call 1 800 methhead. And your team should call the line on you instead.
The employee assistance program in the US is administered by HealthAdvocate. They are a confidential 3rd party, and nobody at the company will know if you contact them. The number is 866-611-8004. They are available 24/7. They can help you find an "in network" counselor.... and you may be able to get some free sessions. It depends on whether any counselors in your area participate. Worth a call. Good luck!
There are many other options for getting professional help outside SLB.
A trick I learned on finding a good counselor, is to call a local Psychiatrist that has been in business for a while, and ask them for counselor recommendations. The Psychiatrists knows first hand all the feedback clients give their counselors. They know who's well received by many.
USL has >70% less work, most segments are losing money. What are you crying about, that you have a job? Maybe you should call HR, give them your GIN # first and ask them politely to hire back someone who wants to work and get rid of you - you sniveling little crap.
Best blog ever! This is so SLB.
Should've thought before letting go good honest workers. May be then you s---ed too hard to save yourself. Now your manager came in your mouth and you are complaining.
Call the Helpline! Support your family and protect yourself from the stress that excessive work demands can place on you. Get real professional advice, not humorous quips from heartless internet trolls.
Well, I can tell you this the ethics hotline is not your friend. They say it's anonymous, it's not. Even if you attempt to block your number - they still know. I wouldn't say you would get fired, I will say, they will look for something to write you up about. When they find something it will go from a verbal warning to a written warning. The system is corrupt. Good Luck!
Grow a pair and stop whining...phone the help line.
