Went to the local Kmart today, one of the more successful stores in the region (most of which have closed), with my son. Kmart holds a special place in my heart, as it plays front and center in many of my childhood memories. What we saw today broke my heart. Sadly, it was just as described on these boards. Seemingly random products haphazardly placed wherever, yet empty shelves of popular products- work pants for example. 2 weeks ago I went looking for fruit fly traps after checking 2 other stores, Kmart was also sold out. Today I found the same empty box on the shelf, yet we found old products covered with dust, I'd like to say kinda "thrown" around the store. No management, no vision. Mattresses, which my mother can't seem to remember being sold at our store, suddenly piled high next to washing machines and old tv's. Employees seemed sullen, defeated. Apparently the store can't order what they want and are being auto-shipped all kinds of assorted whatever. I'd agree that it does appear they are trying to clear out the distribution centers. Feel so sorry for all of you as I can tell many people really love these stores and have given it their all. The failure is at the top and it's really messed up whats going on!

You're welcome, I suppose.... Wish I had something better to report to you all. I've been realizing what Kmart really means to me since I read an article several days ago and started looking into all this. I HATE Walmart! I'm making it a point to go in every day and buy something....while I still can....hope it helps in some small way

thanks for your honest input. It's been a long way down from then to now. Now is: viewing the dead body because it is over....then Was happy times and all that we remember...many good days gone bye.
