Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What happens niw?

I am one of many who have a team that at least half of which are in India. I work from home routinely 10-12 hour days. I am sometimes on calls at 8pm; meetings at midnight, even occasional 2 am witking with my India contingents. I also start most mornings with 6 am meetings with people in US and Mexico. If I am sick, I still work. Not one single person I work with lives in the state I am in. Not one! Everyone- every single person- I work with is virtual and will continue to be virtual. Yet we now have to drive to a cubicle in a building we don't work at to be around other people we don't work with to not support the ones we do work with.

Now, I will be commuting 3 hours a day on a good day, adding approximately $700 a month to my gas bill; will not be able to take care of half my group in India.

Does this make sense to anyone? Because I seriously would like to know. This is only going to hurt Honeywell more. Again, I am one of thousands who support people overseas.

I predict the next RIF will have droves of volunteers!

Honeywell is now a "Third World" company.

Don't forget that joining company conference calls is prohibited while driving. Therefore for those of you with long commutes, you can't start taking calls until you get into the office. Hey, a policy is a policy!

You will have more family time if you don't have a large commute. I live 40 miles away but that's 90-120 minutes each way depending on traffic. Not more family time at all. In fact. Less work time for me- I will be spending it on the road commuting to that building I work from with zero people I work with. Dumb dumb decision. Idiots running this company and all other tech companies are flabbergasted and laughing at us. F-ing idiots

Sorry Dave, you didn't jump ship fast enough. You will get all the credit for ruining a company that valued people before you showed up. I predict you are busy thinking up an excuse as to why you need to leave earlier than the date you announced in order to dump the blame on Darius. Good luck tying to put humpty dumpty Honeywell back together again, Darius.

Honeywell is a joke. After cutting all our benefits, the ONLY thing that made it worth staying was the ability to work remote. Everyone is right, they are trying to drop some dead weight so they can ship all the jobs overseas.

Dave Cote is driving the company into the ground in such a way that the extent won't really be apparent (to outsiders at least) until just after his successor as CEO takes over in the spring of 2017. He needs that for his fragile little ego. "See what I did? The company fell apart after I left".

They want people to leave because they dont have to pay severance or unemployment benefits. Cheaper for HON to force people out than have them get RIfd

There will be very few exceptions per initial HR comments. Adapt or leave is the message. For those who have been flexible for many years, working hard and going above and beyond to increase sales and reduce cost and soldiering through the tough times, this is the last straw. Lack of common sense prevails and corporate leaders, through this latest action, are demonstrating that they do not trust previously valued directors, managers, et al, to make either large or small decisions. Thanks HON for past opportunities but it it is now time to go. This seems to be general consensus in talking to many key contributors.

I guess the answer seems pretty straight forword to me. It is just another way to invite us to leave. There will be tons of exceptions made, as always to nonsensical edicts. If they value your work and the way you want/need to accomplish it and want you to continue to do it, they will find a way to let you do it. Otherwise it seems the message is clear.

Another poorly thought out policy, obviously the product of a deranged mind. I'm sure there will be workarounds before they finally admit that this was a ridiculous idea. The real injustice is the salary these guys make for their terrible leadership.
