Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

"People work better in close proximity to other people, where ideas readily can be exchanged, decisions can be made faster,..."

Perfectly agreed 100% by all of us !

What the reasons to build Teams, Structures and Processes all around the world as done in this last years (HON interconnected) ??

Where you were only two years ago, in another Co ?

Yup, only getting 8 hrs out of me. My work hours are officially reduced- just like my benefits :)

This is a deal breaker for me; telecommuting was one of the few reasons why I stayed @ HON.

@The Wolf

So, you're saying you've had to make a few too many trips to the auto wreckers?

True dat!

I think it's time for me to pull a "Peter Gibbons" (from that movie 'Office Space').

Next week I'm going to clean a fish at my desk...then get promoted.

LOL!

Thank f**king God!!!

Ya gotta love those early morning conference calls with India:

(A) Their Lync/Skype audio connection is almost always completely sh*tty.

(B) Their accents are really thick.

(C) A +B = WTF are you saying!?!?!?

Have you ever tried to take minutes on these meetings? Not once have I NOT had to email someone separately afterwards to get their input in writing because I didn't understand them the first time.

This is all on top of the fact that, technically speaking, the Chinese and Indian engineers can't find their a**es with both hands. Sure, they work for 1/4 the salary of what North American engineers work for, but they put out 1/8th of the work! On top of that, we spend a fortune on tech support and damaged customer relationships because of the poor quality of their work. Trust me, I know this, because I'm one of the guys that has to clean up their messes. Do you remember that character "The Wolf" from the movie "Pulp Fiction"? Yeah, that's my job. FML!

Looks like we're bringing the jobs back to the good old USA so we can work in close proximity to each other. No more working across extensive time zones. Woo hoo.
