Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Closing Managers

We recently got a new store manager. I know SHLD is not doing well financially which is why I'm always looking for signs that our store may be in trouble. When the employees were told the name of our new store manager I went to research a little about him and learned he came from out of state and closed down a Sears store in a different location.

Do you think Sears has certain managers whom they use to specifically close down a store? In other words, there is a process I'm sure and it is probably complicated and has many phases and it would probably be help if there was an experienced manager to oversee the process. Is this how they do it or is it just a coincidence that he closed a store down previously?

It is not really that they are using closing managers to close down stores, the issue is that every week more stores close and all of those store managers have no where to go, so they agree to go to another store that may be closing because any job for now is better than no job... but every manager at Sears/Kmart is also applying and looking for other jobs and leaves as soon as they get another job offer.

It is possible that they have a group like that, but it is more likely that they have managers that aren't very good or in high standing and instead of firing them, they send them to another closing store because they are disposable.

They are purposely letting experienced people go and hiring clueless people right now.

I can't believe what I am seeing.

And am seeking employment elsewhere.

No management knows what they are doing now. They can't even print signs or sign into a sync.

I kind of feel sorry for the new store managers they hired. They won't even be offered severance.

Your store is in trouble because it's an SHC store. I wouldn't spend too much energy looking for signs that your specific store is going to shut down. The company is too clueless to have such a complex process for closing stores. Just count on the fact that SHC retail is going bankrupt in the next couple of years.
