Oh please. I don't think the students at the campuses in question would have been so keen to sign up had they known of the possibility of a buy out by a foreign corporation which no background in art education and no demonstrable knowledge of the US job market in these specialized fields. Let's call this what is is, dumping bad assets.

My God you Moron, read the damn post. I said the Clinton Foundation was doing some good. I have no idea what Laureate is doing.

God you're a knee jerk idiot.

Conventional wisdom says if Hillary's elected, then For Profits like EDMC are toast. From what I've read, the Laureate school has a global reach and is of some benefit to the Clinton Foundation which has done a great deal of good throughout the world. Do a little research before launching a brainless, knee jerk post.

These guys are from Amity University in India. Yes, they are looking at the Art Institute campuses. They have a pretty big presence in India with at least 7 University campuses and 12 Business School campuses. Enrollment is about 125,000. They have programs in Australia, Singapore, Dubai, China and the UK. They've already got a partnership with UMass in Lowell, so I'm guessing they are going to buy the Art Institute in MA (probably at bargain basement prices) or are hoping to work out some kind of partnership. They claim to have a presence in NYC, but it seems to be a loose partnership with NYU. According to their literature, "Starting with campuses in India, Amity today has campuses around the world and aims to have campuses in 25 countries in the next few years."

Uhhhh, a company from India with no background in education is going to breathe new life into American colleges currently managed by a US corporation which has been in the education biz for over 20 years? Absolutely. Let's go with that.

They're starting to sell the campuses.

The latest downsizing move by one of the nation's largest for-profit college chains — the cash-strapped Education Management Corporation — may be selling off campuses to a company in India. But don't call it outsourcing — the college insists the foreign company will breathe new life into doomed Art Institutes campuses in Massachusetts and New York City that are slated to close.

I doubt it will be just those two, my guess is they want to dodge the lawsuit from former students.
