Does anyone know how kmart plans to handle the new salary regulations relating to the ASM's?

Our zone managers are making $17 hr.
"What about the stores that make over 9 Million? The new law states that all salaried positions that make under $47476 must be paid overtime for every hour worked over 40. That means in the 9 million dollar and over stores they have to pay overtime or move every salaried manager to over 48k per year. Anyone know what they are doing?"
We are over 9 million and we have an ASM. He became an hourly employee and will sign in and out like the rest of us. What his hourly rate is, I don't know but like I said before (plh) it is probably commensurate to his current salary. He just won't be working any over time I guess.
There goes a significant source of free labor. Haven't they been expecting these people to work about 60 hours a week? Maybe they can make up for by forcing the store managers to work 100 hours a week...

Any Sears store under $9 million a year will no longer have salaried ASMs, or so we were told in our B Sears store. There are no more ASMs now they are zone managers, we have three, softlines, hardliners and operations, the only salaried manager is the store manager. As for the pay,not sure, but I believe it is less than the salaried ASMs,plus all the benefits are now the same as any other full time hourly associate.
Also they were told to stay at 40 hours, no overtime, but their vacation, holidays and flexible days are to be based on 7 hours not 8 hour days . same job responsibilities, but less pay and benefits.
Our ASM in Sears will now be hourly and will punch a clock like the rest of us. I don't know what his hourly wage will be, I would assume it would be commensurate to his salary.
Probably cut payroll somewhere else in the store to make up the difference. I have heard the company is getting close to the point where they can not even pay the employees.
