MINNEAPOLIS (AP)- At the Fall National Meeting, Target CEO Brian Cornell passionately asked for all subordinates in the company to fix the major issues he hasn't solved. In a rather desperate plea, he asked for store team members to improve sales and instocks, even though those team members have absolutely no decision making capability, and all rational suggestions are ignored according to a recent poll. "It is time for bold action. It doesn't matter if we haven't given stores any hours, and it doesn't matter that we haven't solved our logistics problems- we need sh-- on the shelves and we need it to sell," said Cornell. When asked for clarification on how stores can sell items that aren't in the building, the CEO stated he needed to raise stock price at all costs. More to come on this bold strategy.

Ah Brian you never fail to disemble and amuse. Except you have alienated the people who make the stores work. No benefits, no living wage what did you expect?
Seems like pretty authentic talk at a though time. Our teams loved the straight talk at the FNM. The old tired scripted BS made me want to hurl. I can remember back in 1995 a very similar message from one of the old RSVP's. Toughen up you Nancy.... good sh-t!
"we need sh-- on the shelves and we need it to sell"
This kind of informality makes me want to hurl. Don't speak to us like we're peasants, speak like an adult talking to another adult.
It really is laughable all this strategy talk. Sell crap online or sell it in the store or hopefully both. It either works or it doesn't. What strategy? It's all about execution.
Those "Most Powerless Employees" at the FNM are the Team Members that make Target run. The STL's that turn the toilet paper and tampons to cash can make a huge difference in driving incremental sales and speeding up on the spot replenishment. All this strategy nonsense is window dressing. Target is a storefront that chooses product to sell, get's it to the store and sell's it to the consumer. Right now the cherry's are rotten and the toilet paper is out of stock. Fix it. End of story!
