Because (no pun intended) he's the Big Guy @fgp. They have different rules than us peons.
@efs Murthy came with that purpose. Make stock go up in the short term to make his payment fat, no pun intended. Why is he allowed to sell like crazy his first year, when Intel employees have to wait 4 years for full stock realization?
They don't kill morale on purpose but the executives are to stupid and don't care and just implementing quick actions to make wallstreet happy. The recovery plan is so fundamentally failed in strategy as it doesn't include complete change if company cultural or cost or structure to compete in the new world order of Foundry, memory, IoT, modems. You name it the monopoly of x86 structure doesn't work and Intel is dying like kodak
