Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

No minority leaders welcome at Gulfstream Aerospace

Gulfstream is a great place to work but if your a minority do expect to be come or get into a leadership position. Gulfstream Aerospace has no minority in top VP or VP, Director(limited), or Senior management position. The signal been sent to minorities is your not welcome in leadership position..

Sad but true we need change and the answer why not???

This is the biggest bunch of bulshit I've ever read. Everyone has equal opportunity for advancement at Gulfstream.

Read the job requirements when you apply.

Most jobs require HS education.

Perform the job to the requirements.

Live within your means. Don't make political waves, just do your job. Behave. Don't harass or bully people doing the job to the requirements.

Use your income/benefits to start a small business. Have a plan and a life outside of GAC. Understand contracts, agreements, and the relationship of work and pay.

I have worked at Gulfstream for many, many years.. Yes, I have seen a change in the existing culture from what it use to be in the past, (remember Larry Flynn and Joe Lombardo). Those leaders in my opinion were "no-nonsense" type leaders who searched and hired talent despite race. I have much respect for them. They truly cared about the employee welfare and created a culture that encourages hard work but treated everyone with respect. The culture today is all about revenue and profit first, then customers, then safety and employee moral last. I have seen a big change in the culture.. But who cares.. These post are not really reviewed by any Gulfstream leadership employees so I do not expect to see any changes. Just gonna ride this wave until I can leave. Nothing else going on here in Savannah anyway..

Found out today I wasn't qualified to be a lead after doing the job for almost a year. So out of frustration I search for work place racism and came across this post where I came to the realization that I wasn't alone. It seem clear to me now that this is a common practice at Gulfstream Aerospace. Yes it was saddening but now I know giving 120% as minorities doesn't get you anywhere because in the minds to white managers your black.. This is the conversation that needs to take place leadership and minority employees but that is never going to happen. In closing it's not all the white managers a lot of them are honest.

Gulfstream Aerospace ISN'T the top 100 place to work mainly due to no diversity in leadership

Gulfstream just released a black female director that was one of the best in terms of knowledge, demeanor, job scope and general qualifications. She, in my opinion and opinions of many others should have been in the VP position years ago. Minorities and females in aviation is in fact disparaging but that is the type of industry it is.. I do not know why but that's my experience after being in this industry for 30 years. And yes, I am a white male.. This is not about race in my opinion, its more about a lack of initiative to be diverse in an industry that is predominantly white. So people tend to higher who they associate with the most.. Just my opinion..

I Work in BT and they promoted four or five new director. Two of them aren't qualified for the jobs ERP and CPLM directors. Plus the lady managing SharePoint just promoted. She is culess regarding sharepoint but yet she a manager. The guy that is the enterprise applications director was demoted to a regular manager but now his a director.. and most of the promote in BT aren't people of color this is so disheartening when you give 110% and managers give you bad EPRS I believe it because we aren't white

After reading all the post I agree people of color aren't appointed to leadership position because they don't fit into the Good old boy club. Its not that they aren't qualified. In this age and time it's kind of hard to believe. This must stop..

I googled Gulfstream in an attempt to get a job as an Avionics Engineer and is reading through all of the negativity. I have always heard good things about this company, now I am skeptical. Is there a site that shows the positives things as well?

Gulfstream is a company that use to be well respected and admired in the aerospace industry. The past year has proven to be an eye opener in the way they have treated their employees. I understand the need to reduce overhead while adjusting to forecast and establishing profitable goals that feed into a 5 year or 10 year business plan. The issue is not in "what" they are doing but "how" they are going about it. There are employees that have been with the company for over 32 years and has sacrifice family to ensure that their job and responsibilities are 110% every day (backed-up by "above and far above requirements" evaluations) and in return was dismissed as if there were no contributions to the welfare of the company.

Gulfstream has pretended to have a diversity program or better yet promoted inclusion, but in reality it is more like an exclusion program. In looking at the ages and races of the employees impacted, it has definitely led me to believe that the senior management team that is in place currently does not care or is not informed in regards to the impact of how this affects the moral of the work force. Furthermore the impact that it will have on potential employees or customers on the outside looking in at all this trying to determine whether or not this is where they want to work or do business with (as it relates to potential customers). This is very disappointing as it relates to a company that I currently own stock in and has held in high regards.

To all

Just realize that Gulfstream isn't the place you want to work if your a minority with dreams of becoming a leader. We are slaves to a master who doesn't want minorities in the main house. The master just need us to work and doesn't want to be questioned. Do you understand!!!!

Coming out of the restroom an hour ago I overheard two newly appointed directors talking about employees who work in infrastructure they referred to them as monkeys. This was directed to HCL contractor from India.. it was quite disheartening to think if these directors talking this way how do they really feel about blacks and other minorities and does this type of mentality reflect EPR scores and promotion of minorities. It sad to say but I don't want to go to HR because they're going to support the directors. Is this what Gulfstream as become or it just in BT because the CIO allows this type of actions..

Simply put I need a job.

I came across this post trying see if Gulfstream is going to have additional layoffs because senior leadership don't tell us the employees the truth. But after reading some of the post I came to the sad realization how true the post are concerning appointing minorities to leadership position. They do have a legitimate concern and how racist Gulfstream is when it comes to minorities.

It just seems with all the world this wouldn't be one of them.

Just found out we lost 4 guys. We have to re-apply for our jobs but the guys that got walked out have been doing the job for 7 or 8 years. I was trained by one of them and still went to them if I had a question. Our manager doesn't even know what we do or how to do the job.. This is the new way of laying off employees. GULFSTREAM ISN'T THE BEST PLACE TO WORK ANYMORE!!!

So BT has about eight or so director more managers then you needed. So why is IBM running the show. Gulfstream isn't doing well financially so why are we wasting all this money?

Limit the amount of directors and managers

FIRE THE CFO AND CIO and you've just save about 15 jobs of productive people.

I'm a white female.. and it is sad that Gulfstream doesn't promote minorities.. Equality not at Gulfstream

Doesn't Gulfstream have government contracts.. Minorities employees need to call state politicians and other to inform them of the situation. You are taxpayer's at the end of the day and I believe companies that own Gulfstream's may be interested in the knowing the discrimination practices taking place. We buy a lot of the products manufactured by companies that may own Jets made by Gulfstream.

As a black man I've applied for a lot of leadership jobs. Thinking having an MBA and five years of experience that I'd get an interview but nothing. I later found out that a person with less years and education got the job. This person played golf with the hiring director. All most the same situation with the other job. The sad thing is worker bees are the ones who get layed off not the unqualified managers. Due to not getting the jobs I've applied for I'm in the process of leaving to go to Boing where I'll be a senior manager. To all minorities still at Gulfstream the time is now to make your vice heard.

Does it really matter because a lot of both contractors and GAC employees are going to be layed off before the end of the year due bad management and sad leadership at the top. We need younger leadership at the top. It doesn't matter black or other or white just need a change..

I'm white my minority brother and the CIO don't speak to us either. I feel your pain she only speaks to IBM but you make a great point why do we need her if she only signing the check. Oh please do question IBM or the strategy she have your head. I'd have to question the CFO who didn't spend any money when it was to be spent but now they are speed like it's going out of style. Lead Director came from IBM someone's getting a kick back..

CIO must go and take IBM with her.
