Bryant is a fine example of an executive with little outside prospective and working in a monopollistic company will skew's ones prospective. x86 is king now but the ARMy is at the gate. The play that x86 did to IBM, DEC, Burroughs, Sperry, Wang, HP, SUN, Cray, Fujitsu, and others will be replayed. You only have to step outside of Intel arrogance to see it, very hard from inside as you keep drinking the Koolaid. You think anyone who leads the most profitable business can say anything but what she says.

You think Google, FB, AWS, Azure, and every other cloud hosting isn't looking at the huge cost in hardware and cooling and questioning what cheaper solutions are out there. At somepoint the cost of an ARMy is going to be so good at 10 and 7nm that the will end the gravy train.

BTW who is ahead isn't as important as that what PPAC you get moving from generation to generation. Intel may be ahead but the move from 22nm to 14nm didn't get them any revenue growth, nor profit growth so who cares if they lead, they didn't grow the market! DID YOU GET THAT, leadership didn't GROW THE MARKET!

Now look at what Samsung and TSMC did going from 28nm to 16nm/14nm what happened to their unit growth and profits, what did Nvidai get moving to TSMC 14nm, what did AMD get from GF. They got huge improvement and profits and growth. Now look at China who for the most part are all on

even older nodes. They will go to 28 and 16/14 and 10nm, yeah they are behind Intel but they will grow the business and eat intel's lunch.

The saddest fact for BK and the Intel management team is they totally failed to capture any value, business beyond x86/server. They failed to translate their leadership in process to anything in the biggest boom, mobile, matter of fact they lost billions.

Now the mobile has given Samsung and TSMC the volume and R&D and factory scale to catch up. Due to Intel execution failure, INTEL lost.

The real data trends are obvious. Many more lay-offs coming as Intel trying to reinvent itself. Forget ARM. They cannot compete against TSMC no matter what lying BS the mgrs are feeding the mindless clone worker bees. Shareholders need to rise up and retake their company since it is bring driven off a cliff.

No monopoly lasts forever especially one where greed/arrogance rule!

The ARMy has already made the PC about as valuable is a washer/dryer, you need it but boy the difference between a bargain one and one 5x in price you can't tell much when you see the end product.

The money, volume and technology driver is now the ARMy of billion+ units. Was it really only a few short years ago PSO was full of himself on x86.

BK by embracing ARM on 10nm has indirectly admitted the future of x86 is like IBM mainframes and Intel can NO longer afford to do silicon on x86 alone and now desperately needs the ARM.

But who do you think does ARMy designs better, Intel, Qualcomm, ARM, Apple, Samsung. Pss not the one that owned a license and tried to break into mobile for 6 years and failed.

You think that same company can hold the server market against a billion+ ARMy. No the story is the same as the Mainframe, Minicomputers, Servers ( IBM, DEC, Cray, Burroughs, Wang, Sperry, SUN etc. etc. ) they were huge had profits that exceeded x86, but volume ALWAYS win and ARMy volume is so big they will win.

Moore's Law has ended, and Intel ran off the cliff first

Everyone else using TSMC / Samsung doing ARMy have another two generations or 4-6 years of improvement, guess who grows and who shrinks.

2017: Intel Layoffs another 15K

2018: Intel Layoffs anoterh 20K

2019: Intel will be bought
