Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The future is here and it ain't x86 in silicon. Sadly Intel is poorly positioned technological and structural to capitalize which means...

Big layoffs are a certainty!!

The link below take you to a take on HOT Chips, Everyone has solutions and it ain't Intel x86. Of course Intel continues to push x86 but seeing how PPAC ( Power, Performance, Area, and Cost) matters and Intel failed at tablets and mobile where PPAC matter the most do I need to say anything else, LOL. Oh if anyone is interested ARM was big at HOT a few years ago. Intel always there but only self promotion of their monopoly.

Also a must read if you think you can survive 10+ more years at Intel!

Lots of innovation outside of Intel.

People should be shopping their resumes at the companies presenting at hotchips.

Look at what Intel showed - same old same old - x86 dinosaurs that nobody wants to buy.

BK and Murthy are selling all their stock as soon as it vests. They know what is coming.

All the big guys GR13 and above got network and enough money so when the Titanic goes down they got no worries.

Anyone under that unless they have been very disciplined with savings, have a second career all lined up, or better yet really have very unique skills different and more valuable than all their peers when they are all screaming for a job in the next few rounds of cuts will be SOL.

Let's be honest, x86 continues to fall. The ARM servers will get huge boost with 10 and 7nm on TSMC silicon now that they have Softbank bankrolling their push into high end, software as well as additional push into IoT.

IoT, modems, 5G, memory are all commodity where Intel has little advantage, not cost, not scale, not design/product history, NOTHING. For people's reminder Intel failed over three generations trying to break into tablet and mobile, grade F. The modem is a external design run at TSMC. To date NO successful nor competitive silicon has come out of Intel that benchmarks well for PPAC where there is real competition. Frankly Intel has never done well over the last 30 years when there was competition, they have always fled to the corner, and they got lucky with x86.

Good times are over as TSMC and Samsung are nearly matched for process technology, have better and bigger factories, have huge volume to amortize their R&D. INtel has servers but that was like DEC having Alpha worktstations or IBM having POWER and mainframe silicon to feed them, and they couldn't afford it.

Game over by 7nm for Intel, there is more to a roadmap than tightest gate pitch, LOL

Very obvious that more layoffs in the works. Unfortunate that friends still employed in this dismal environment are being lied to by their management that their market is recovering. They'll be out of a job and their mgmt will have found new employment.
