some do as little as possible but are great at delegating the work to others to do. some do almost nothing all day but talk on the phone and gossip about others. one in particular and she knows who she is. time to stop paying her and need to track what she does. down time and all.

Any layoffs in moon for 2016. End of year ahead. Been too quiet now. Anyone hear anything?
Layoffs are coming November 17th. CEO said so in his townhall meeting a month ago.
Seriously? Do you have any idea how many people at this company have 'nothing' to do and most not by choice? OR how many people are overwhelmed with work and begging to offload some? OR those that have the work, but don't want to share the load because they themselves are trying desperately to secure their place so they too can survive? Did you know that the advantage management has over people is to take away their tasks slowly so that a person will opt to quit or they inevitably gain a more solid ground for termination of that individual legally and through the eyes of HR? How gossip helps management and leadership with those decisions? That they don't just look at the people being spoken about, but also the person speaking? Expire retirement qualifying people before their rightful or willful time because they scaled back work amongst many other reasons? Sounds like you have it out for this person and you should check your ego at the door. You are just a number, too. As you point the finger at someone, another is pointing in your direction as well. If you have doubts about someone's performance, talk to them directly instead of posting passive comments. That person doesn't know who they are because there are hundreds just like them. Management and leadership won't help you because 'it's a game'. Know the game. There's already enough foaming at the mouth within this company without individual contributors throwing each other the bus. Work together, not against each other. The company hires to boost their market and show that they are competitive across the scale; they layoff to cut the fat once they become too bloated so they can remain competitive and also give the illusion that they're not monopolizing the market; and like a stomach/chest pumping as you breathe, the corporate monster is no different. Inhale/exhale and repeat...no one is safe here or most other corporations except those who have a strong legacy (the IN crowd if you will). Keep those who surround you as an ally because you need them. Never underestimate a person's worth because your vantage point may not be shared with someone in a position of authority. As damaging as gossip can be, it may just save you. It's all strategy - quit whining and play the game. Find something worth the argument if that's the type of person you are...but at least show some degree of comprehension that you have no more of a clue as to what is going on or being said than most anyone else and really, at your level, who cares. Let them collect a paycheck just like you and stop trying so hard to be better than anyone else - you're not....
