HP hit with age-discrimination suit claiming older workers purged

I am a little surprised that there isn't already a class action lawsuit for age-discrimination at Intel. I would have definitely joined. Who is with me?

@fkv Intel already lost a class action lawsuit. Their lawyers are not the greatest.

Count me in- we have nothing to lose- my position has already being replaced by a foreign ee. 10 years younger and likely earning much lower salary.

Oregon is a right to work state (which means they have the right to let you go for any reason or none) plus we all signed releases to get our payout. Good luck on any lawsuit. Especially against a legal behemoth like Intel. Just get a new job or retire and put this in the rear view.

Intel is legally required to provide data to comply with the federal Older Workers Benefit Protection Act. Therefore, the data for age-based discrimination is out there. Below are the articles from Oregon Live that break down the data provided by Intel based on age for the layoffs from this year and last year.

Good luck winning against the lawyer army that was able to even turn antitrust into nothing.

We know that Intel absolutely discriminates based on age. The challenge with a class action lawsuit is to find someone that has the data or someone in HR that will support you in the legal action... Even if the legal action is not a class action, the data is still important. This is why HR does not fire any of its own, (or very few). Also, success in a legal action depends on the state where the EEOC complaint is filed. AZ is a right to work state so it is easier for Intel to defend its discriminatory activities in AZ.

When I read the news I wondered whether the HP plaintiffs were smart enough not to sign the exit agreement.

You and this HP person can file anything baseless, whatever about whatever. It does not mean you will win😂😄

OP, no options after Intel ?

Proves Intel made the right choice.
