I have a BS and 4 yrs experience at a major chip-maker on east coast. How is $120k fair? Should I negotiate for more? I thought Intel treated its employees well.

For $120k salary, you have choice of atleast thousand well known better corporations. Why do you want to or need to work at Intel ?

I agree. If you are a long time Intel employee who complains about your salary but continue to work for Intel, you are just plainly stupid.
Yes, new hires should be aware of Intel long timers (20+ years) and their jealousy with the salary discrepancies. I was hired by Intel a few years ago and have never seen so many ungrateful lifers complain so much about their salaries!
Your salary varies by when you were hired.
Recent experienced hires are coming in with very high and inflated salaries.
WARNING: Avoid Intel especially URMs. High Intel salary is a trap.
It is not worth it given the bullying and unrealistic high expectations that come with it, from the all-time-losers (your peers and managers/directors) who have only ever worked at Intel and have no clue about the outside world.
@jku you'd have to be a moron to put your exact salary to the dollar on this website, since you could easily be identified. I call BS on your number. G8 in Oregon has base of 125-150k from what I've seen and myself, with $170-220k tcomp.
I'm grade 9 in OR and 20 years exp. My base is only $120k. I'm not lying.
@jku - 186k base at G8 is definitely not the mid range for OR. Sounds like an exception or BS

Skills and good work ethic not needed. Take job. lie cheat steal and backstab. That will get you to 300k in no time. It actually pays well at Intel to not actually know anything. Just do what it takes to make yourself look good.
I am a grade 7 in Santa Clara. 13 years experience. Phd and masters. Only on $120k base. So don't believe these other guys they are lying.
I am grade 8 and get a base of $186,278 plus an ABT of $6414. I consider that mid-range for OR from asking around. Also the small monthly an Q personal bonuses from me colleagues and bosses is worth a good $2-3K per year on a prepaid CC ($25 here, $50 there, $250 occasionally).
I don't think with BS and 4 that $120 is too bad. Maybe a little low. Definitely low for SC.

Negotiate more as after joining you will get 1-2% raise.
Negotiate for $1.2 mil.
I am a 15 year engineer making $200k at Intel SC (grade 9) and I feel ripped off.

What's the grade you are being hired for? That may change bonuses considerably.
What's the location? $120k in OR is quite good, especially with just 4 years of experience.
Highly PAID employees are the target during layoffs. so if you want to be there for sometime then go with this offer or find another employer and there is no point in negotiating with Intel HR in their current situation. They would find another internal mover.
