Thread regarding IBM layoffs

A new joiner question

I have been extended an offer for a senior position in one of the "hot" CAMSS areas.

I am aware that the firm is struggling and that revenue has been declining for years - tons of layoffs too....

How is the restructuring doing internally?

Will there be a future at IBM for my career?

Hi all the OP here - I guess your responses paint a fairly straightforward picture - leave ASAP. Not the answer I was hoping the hear, but a frank one indeed. Changed my thinking for sure. Thank you all...

I just left IBM 2 months ago, best decision I ever made.

Do not waste your time booking passage on the S.S. Titanic that is IBM.

From someone who has been with the company over 30 years I would say run fast and find another company who will treat you with respect. Don't waste your time, CAMSS is not hot. You would be working long hours alot of times 7 days a week with no raises, bonuses or respect. They will lie to you to get you on board then you become one of the 99% that gets treated like a slave and discarded when you are no longer needed. Many good people are leaving left and right for greener pastures. Of course you need to make that decision but don't say you have not been warned, you will be disappointed. Good luck in your decision.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are many IBMers who can answer that question. We're fed a steady stream of sunshine by our management that disagrees severely with news from outside the company, so we really have no idea if we're succeeding or not. Based purely on the general atmosphere in the company, I wouldn't recommend joining it.
