Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Change the top management

Every time Seagate not doing well, the employees get retrench.

After so many round of retrenchment, still didn't bring in the desired result.

Shouldn't the top management take responsibility and accountability ?

Do they have the best business model ? Wrong strategy ? Do we employ the best person to run operation ? Right person for CTO ? Right marketing guys? Always project high volume that didn't come true years after years.

If there is no major shake up in the executive level, Seagate will always be no 2 to WD, poor result is inevitable.

The much-too-often routine layoffs are the most unimaginative and morale depleting cost reduction exercise that smacks of poor planning. What happen to the innovation and technology ? What happen to the vision of top management? Instead of building on the 30 % ownership of Sun Disk which Seagate used to own, it divested this investment. WD is now the owner of Sun Disk. There was little effort by Seagate to thwart WD's purchase of Komag, allowing WD to acquire an important piece of technology it was lacking.

SJL is CEO & head of the board - how do you expect him to sack himself.... The only way to change the Execs is by using your voting rights via shareholder stakeholders...

Happy dreaming ....
