Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Qualcomm is an absolute cesspit to work in.

Looks like Intel is going in the same direction. Wonder what the common denominator is.

Having worked at both places, I would certainly rate Qualcomm as a better place than Intel. Arrogance and politics ruined Intel's mobile chances in the early years. Countless proposals and ideas, however nothing materialized. I have attended so many fruitless meetings where managers would simply mock the competitor solution as piece of crap. End of the day nothing came out of it and Infineon was the mobile life boat. Left the team in 2011 and joined Qualcomm.

Qualcomm has certainly reduced the employee benefits however they are a far better place after recent layoffs. Pretty much every team took out their lowest performers. Every team almost gave up 20% of their mid level managers and any directors who were evenly remotely related to snapdragon heating problem were fired. Best part was that they had Murthy do the whole dirty business and finally kicked him out as well ... Pity Intel ... they picked a Qualcomm discard.
