Earnings call is the only thing happening on the 28th. Layoff or any other internal announcement will have to wait. These guys can only focus on one thing at a time.

It really is torture! I was laid off last year even after I asked my supervisor if I had anything to worry about since I had always had good ratings. He assured me I was ok because of the asset that I worked in. HE LIED!!!!!! Do NOT trust management! I wish you all the best!

When I said lets get it over with I meant Lances call on the 28th when he says "no we are hanging in there just keep working,we may have to make select cuts but we are good". Then they let you rot your gut for the next 6 weeks worrying if its you instead of waiting for the "call" just shoot an email now. Things are bad we have to make cuts sorry we wish you well thanks for your service then get it over with that week. But nope they will do it the hard way let the torture begin

I agree with zfy - nothing will happen on the 28th, but expect the WARN notice to be sent out soon after. If it's anything like the last 3 times we've gone through this, lance will say layoffs are coming and then spout out some hopeful / positive bullshit to get some people's hopes up. Then the deep cuts will follow in the next few months. "Work" will continue the entire time, with most employees just twiddling their thumbs due to being either too stressed to focus or just not giving a sh-- anymore. Can't wait!!!!!

@I18u3qi-hnz Where is the article that you took that quote from? Just wondering. I would like to read it in it's entirety.

Good luck to all who still work there!

This is what the market thinks of cop:

"The company's weaknesses can be seen in multiple areas, such as its deteriorating net income, poor profit margins, weak operating cash flow, disappointing return on equity and generally disappointing historical performance in the stock itself."

Absolutely nothing is going to happen on the 28th. The WARN letter will go out early August. The layoffs will start early September. 30% of the company on a global scale will be out of work. Good luck to all that work here for COP.
