Ai Phil will most likely be the next "sinking ship" to be sent the depths by KKR.... It cannot stay afloat much longer.

Philly's union took a big hit during the last negotiations and they have been quiet since then. Layoffs and attrition have probably contributed. The bigger issue is that the school still operates at a loss after physical and organization changes and needs growth just to break even down the road. The faculty see what is going on and respond as you might expect.

Correct. Ai Philadelphia is not in teach out and the union is still rolling. There have been layoffs but not as bad as in other Edmc schools.

@2gki - whoops; you're right, and my apologies for the unintentional misinformation. Ai Philadelphia was originally on the list of schools planned for teachout (along with a few others like Ai Colorado) but was removed before the announcement, so indeed that's one a school with unionized faculty that's still rolling. I stand corrected.

I've talked to both faculty and administrators from that school in the past and they said it was very difficult to do anything due to union restrictions, but, again, it's still accepting students, so they manage somehow. It'd be interesting to get the perspective of anyone at that campus on how they're currently faring with unionization, since my intel is a few years old.

I support unions and generally support unionization - I'd just be very concerned about what EDMC will do in response. Given their past hostility to unions, this recent behavior is most peculiar.

Also, Fraud is a terrible terrible human being.

@Ij3RA8a-1wku If you truly care, do us a favor and supply what you know to the California Bureau of Private Post-Secondary Education.

When federal money is pulled from AI it's over. That's coming sooner than most of you know.

Do your research. This is a loosing battle.... You can always dream.

Unions are not going to be signing your check!

As a former Academic Director at a California campus I can say that EDMC is deathly afraid of unions, bribed our faculty with generous pay raises to get them not to unionize, then 6 months later hit them with the biggest layoff at our campus. Meanwhile Corporate tried to force the directors to rat out faculty union sympathizers, and when we refused, they directly threatened us, and I'm talking being grilled by VP of Academics, campus President, Dean, and Associate Dean. We were told our jobs were at stake if we didn't comply which we didn't. Had our faculty unionized when they had the chance, they would have lasted much longer. Campuses will on teach out when their admissions falls below the magic number. EDMC is passing off all of academics jobs onto faculty which the union won't allow. Unions will make it very hard for EDMC to close a campus but ultimately the entire system will fall. But with a union at your backs, you can negotiate a stronger position.

This guy is a complete joke. I have no idea how he has a job with this company. Complete failure in all regards, total union supporter (yeah it's a bad thing, it will kill the schools, or what is left of them) and somehow he keeps moving up.

Does McEachon know his dealing with unions, I know Moscato looked the other way because they were buddies, but really?

He is a union guy but he also is a company man, be careful with him. Claude got in trouble a few years back when he said some pro-union statements at an all school meeting in the LA campus. What followed was several days of training by corporate. I am sure he got smacked down back then. So don't trust him, he may like and support unions but he will sell faculty out in a heart beat to get ahead.

Agree with 1mti. The earlier poster is either Fraud or the earlier guy who's been smoking fatties with him.

The two campuses that unionized, NY and Philly, are now in teachout, and Philly at least was set to teachout because they decided that was easier and better than working with the union.

There is no way that management will support a union. They'll shut down the school first.

As for Fraud, what he's usually focused on is what people think of him and how much money he can make, not necessarily in that order.

Don't trust 1ooo. It may well be Fraud himself who posted that, but either way I've known and worked with Fraud a long time and he's never touched anything he hasn't ruined. He survives on lies and manipulation. Look at his fashion company. Look at what happened to the Los Angeles campus. Look at what happened to the west region under him. The guy makes terrible business decisions that serve nobody but himself.

Should we just contact him directly? I am done with this and ready to unionize. We have met with a union rep but will Claude actually help us? I've only heard bad things.

I disagree. I've known him a long time and feel he is legit. It's true he definitely manipulates people but unionization is something he is fair and honest about. He truly does believe unionization can save the California Ai region schools. Fellow faculty, don't shun him, he is truly trying to help us.
