Hey, even more confusing is being sent to a class and then getting laid off as soon as you get back. That one was a bit of a surprise. Why send to class just to lay off the day after the class is over??

When you're trash, you're trash. And every birthday brings you closer. In the end it won't matter how many classes you attended.

its just another tool HR uses to weed the current skeleton cream of crop crews. If you have a son or daughter entering college, point them to a BS in HR, turning into a great career now days it appears.

True that. Funny part is when they need them to work on a tool after class and training they say, I m not confident to take bolt A and replace it with B or how to plug in... list is long. It's a joke.

.25Cent raise in 2 years can make you slave them workers quick.

You can teach a puppy to walk on a leash, but an old dog knows to stay out of the street.

Schlumberger management believes that through training it is possible to replace experience. It has been proven wrong in the past and will be just as wrong in the future.

We pick employees for extra training whose attitude align with the company's transformation, which is going towards multi skilling and do more stuff for a few extra pennies.

Also, the moment you show that you are just doing your job, and don't ask "when can I go to school?? I wanna learn this and that" is when you lose value to us. You gotta be willing to grow on your own, not wait for your manager to have to send your to training.

Because one was chosen to be developed and the other not needed.

So you put one in training and lay off the other one. Managers do not have much options but to fill out a predetermined blank spreadsheet with X lines on it.

No magic, SLB is a public company. The system is to blame at a greater extent. We are all part of it.

The problem is that manager that has no self-conscious, send them close ones to school and let go experienced people because he/she can't stand the ones who will never kiss**** for nothing. Do ur job and go home. Keep ur family stories and love adventures to ur self. No one wanna hear why u bought that or what player u like.

Because cutting headcount/salary is a higher priority in terms of minimizing costs. Wall St. isn't impressed with training cancellations. Please understand that of the company "values" of People, Profit and Technology..... People got flushed down the crapper a long time ago.
