Now phase2 is at work after 60 days. How many phases are there? I can not trust the management any more.

I know this is a radical theory but the whole purpose of a company is to make a profit. No profit - no company. Seagate isn't profitable at the moment so something has to be done. So the company will shrink is places and expand in others. Its tough but no one deserves a job. It you feel your work /life balance isn't right then it's in your power to fix it. The company doesn't care as long as it makes a profit. Personally, I have no issue with this and I choose to work to live not live for work.... It's going to be a rocky ride, hold on and see where it takes you.
OK, to each their own. If online anonymous message board is your therapy, seems like a harmless way to blow off some steam.
If I find another job, I will take it. TAM for HDD is not coming back. No viable SSD or Cloud system and Xyratek, Dot Hill, Sandforce, eVault, and Lacie are not paying off.
Glad to hear you are happy. Seems like a lot of people like their jobs, maybe some just don't like what is happening or they are worried and they want to comment here.
If you hate the place so much, leave. Find another job. If you choose to stay, well, that's on you.

"don't let that 11% yield fool you"
"Feels good on the hole". LOL. Haven't laughed so hard since Bill Watkins was declared Forbes man of the year.
O.K. enough fun. The only reason I still have my job is because I work 14 hours a day including holidays and weekends and my lunch break is under 15 minutes. All you RIF'er's take note: 8 to 5 + an hour for lunch + breaks isn't how companies operate anymore.
"Work - Life" balance means "maybe we'll let you play bocce ball during your 15 minute lunch break".
Thank God I can still floss my teeth and let whizpoppers loose in my cube while catching-up on e-mail.
...Thinking of getting a GoPilot Deluxe (Truckers Friend) just to save the 8 minutes I dilly-dally away everyday at the urinal.
Hmmm.. wonder if the Seagate Store still carries this item.
IM FLASH is hiring!
WD cutting, Micron cutting, things are bad folks.
Did we not trust the management they would have known what to do yesterday from last conference call? Total, some analyst had some private discussion about phase 2 RIF after 8K filing. Wonder if the analyst is lying? We all know 3% cut is not near enough. Same with last yr's 5%.
Micron just announced 7.5% RIF yesterday. With TAM shrinking 70% and below and no new product in sight, 20% RIF should be fine for a couple of years.
Alex wait, what phase are we on?
Come on Marty...
Phase 1: We break into the casino and grab the penguins
Phase 2: We chew out the penguins for abandoning us
Phase 3: We apologize for the overly harsh chewing out, but at least we got our point across
Phase 4: Back to New York City
Phase 5: get ready for more phases
I can not trust the management any more <-- It's cute (if misguided) that you ever trusted them to start with....

Isn't it F...ING amazing that a presidential candidate (Hillary) has a solution to offshoring? Instead of offshoring/outsourcing tech jobs to docile under-paid foreigners in their own countries, she says just bring those people here and hand them the keys to citizenship (as long as they remain STEM slaves). Win win for all huh? Oh wait, I almost forgot, what are the motivations for US college students in STEM programs? You know, the rest of us with outstanding student loans who are laid off left and right... Onward with the global economy and the new world order!
Some may think that Phase 1 looks kind of like a cluster f... because MGMT and HR opted to let some great talent get away. But are they wrong? What we really need during this rebirth is cohesiveness and good old team spirit. While it is true that there are some sh..birds that continue to evade RIF, the important thing is that those individuals have little self-awareness, less is expected of them, and their teammates don't seem to care - which is why they stay on I guess. I think most people are just glad they weren't RIF'd and they are holding out hope that Seagate will always be there for them. Let's cross our fingers.
Besides, for those doubters of the Phase plan, we need to understand that a lot of preparation has gone into Phase 1. There have been a few initial preparations, labeled A-G, but each of those turned out to be unfeasible. Finally, in the eleventh hour, people put their heads together and came up with preparation H. We all agree that this preparation feels good on the hole and seems to be the answer for what ails our company so far.
And yes, it is likely also true that WD has been talking about Seagate's phase 1 and 2 and our inevitable end game, but who the heck are they anyway? Let them talk. Now on the other hand if I were a WD recruiter, I would have already internally discussed reaching out to many of our RIFs, but let's not dwell on that either, it all comes out in the wash right? What is more important is that we come through this together regardless of how many assets and talent remain.
As far as buying us out, don't know about that. Seagate's steps so far probably remind at least some of us of similar situations where companies tried to clean themselves up to look a little riper for a takeover. We are trimming some fat for sure, but who knows.
Your assuming I work for Seagate, loser. Get ready for the next layoff, I have a feeling you'll have your 5 minutes of fame.
wait, so you skim over 2 layoffs last year and likely a 2nd one this year, and all you can comment on is the SSD focus for WD. well done. you deserve to be rif'd asap.

no offense, but I think WD will want to concentrate their capital and attention on SSD, not buying Seagate.
it's a two-fer. two layoffs last summer also....it's the Seagate way! piss off everyone, watch your sales dwindle away to WD, then fold up, and sell what's left to WD.
