I'm not sure about stocks but an engineering degree is most definitely a requirement. I'm not likely to be able to get past to 11

Well...first you gotta go to grade school
often in the past promotion to band B06, technical and managerial, comes with some stock options, at least when I was still there slaving for a living. They reduced me to get that back:)
There is no obligation to purchase SLB stock. It's not necessary to get promoted.
